    The Next Move

I don't thin there's a GM in the NHL that would trade for a top 6 forward in the situation we are in right now

Doan staying in PHX 4 yrs $21.2 mill

Doan's agent sure likes to tweet. Well can we all agree that trading for a forward would be truly retarded given the situation were in?

PK Subban for Flippula and Tatar?

Getting Tootoo, Doan, replacing Hudler with Samuelsson and trading for Subban and we have the grittiest Red Wings team I can remember.

PK Subban for Flippula and Tatar?

I would be okay with this. Sucks to lose Flippula but acquiring D is a lot harder than replacing forwards and our offence is already one of the better offences in the league. I'd rather trade Mursak than Tatar though. Subban would fit in nicely about as good of a Rafalski replacement as we could find. Hits, great skater, great shooter, offensively minded.....bad defensively, but brought in this system he would improve as a player. We need people that get under the opposing players skin. Just don't let him do interviews. I could also see a rift between him and babcock. He is the kind of guy who would take it personally to see our stars like Datsyuk and Zetterberg getting cheap shotted though. I would like this trade to happen the more I think of it

PK Subban for Flippula and Tatar?

huh? sign and trade must be something big isn't Subban a RFA?

    Semin

We should be getting this guy for a good deal because on his reputation but we'll end up giving him a contract based on potential. Getting Doan will make our team better in countless different ways... What's your suggestions then? There's not many options out there. Doan makes our team better immediately without giving up anything. Every team needs veterans, especially if your veterans are one of your most effective players. Doan is a no brainer. Loyal, hard working, team guy and has a lot of skill

    Quincey files for arbitration

Quincey is a top 4 Dman on most teams. You're basing your opinion on him through 20 games after being traded at the tail end of the season. He played on the top 4 on teams with decent defense. Stuart was garbage

    Def trade on the horizon

The more I think about it, the more I think holland will pick up a complimentary Dman, not a true #1. Which is alright, our team has potential. This is probably gonna piss a lot of people but I see why Holland would do this. Don't build a half ass contender just because you have money.

Dear Mr. Holland: Forget about FA, trade for Yandle and Ryan

Semin is gonna get a long deal from either us or the pens... I say 4 years at the most but you gotta know he will have options so yes we will have to overpay or give a longer contract than we want. I think, given the leagues perception of him, he will want a longer term contract more importantly. Consider us lucky if we can get him for 3 years JBou will be a player a lot more easily obtained... Franzen, Cleary, and Bert... Flames get a long term goal scorer and we can ditch our dead weight and let our kids play... Franzen for JBou should be a good deal straight up but I want holland to dump these guys salary as well

    Semin

Your not getting Nash, Ryan or Yandle without trading Flippula and/or Franzen... Especially Nash

    Def trade on the horizon

I can see holland going for hedman from Tampa. It's not gonna be Yandle because that would make too much sense. Holland will trade for a defense men I just wish he would throw on bertuzzi, Cleary and Emmerton just cause they're dead weight and making our team worse just by having to be in the lineup instead of our prospects Tatar, Nyquist, and Mursak. Then during injuries we could even see our younger prospects instead of bringing up players that should be playing anyways. Our prospects could learn a lot playing on a line with helm without being depended on scoring each night

Evander Kane is a Better Option than Zach Parise

Yup agreed... Holland has to have this guy in mind

    Jonathan Ericsson. Knock, knock...

Must admit, it is very exciting though. Just thinking of the absolute best case scenario with all these young players gets me all giddy. Especially Ericsson stepping up and proving everyone wrong. He does have all the tools, can't wait to watch him play next season.

    Quincey files for arbitration

People on this forum are awful at judging defensive talent. I would take Kyle Quincey over Brad Stuart everyday of the week. Holland would have done a nice job of replacing our D had that unfortunate incident with Suter not happened. Still waiting on a Refalski's replacement though.... Yandle-Weber Ericsson-Kronwall Quincey-Smith........ one day....

Where did you check to get this information? Reports were saying Doan's agent contacted Holland several times
  17. joesuffP

    Semin

Ya get it done 4YRS@20M.... Semin is probably motivated to play with Datsyuk just as much as Malkin though. Tough competition with the Pens.

    The Next Move

Flippula+Cleary+Bertuzzi+Emmerton for Yandle.....The only young guy I would trade is Mursak and Emmerton. Is there any point in throwing in Cleary and Bertuzzi on a Yandle trade? Would they accept our dead weight thrown on at the end of the deal? There is no room for these guys if we want to have a youth movement. We can have all 4 lines be responsible with skill all while having our prospects playing full time.

    Jonathan Ericsson. Knock, knock...

After Ericsson came back from injury Babcock and his teammates were praising him saying how much they needed him on the PK and what a big part of the team he is, I think that gave him some confidence. That's why I think he is going to have a big season. Holland and the coaching staff need to sit him down and say this is where we need you to take steps forward in offence. I truly believe his defence, positioning and everything in his own end is already great, just need to round his game some more. Needs a great first pass, be able to fire off the shot quicker and shoot whenever her can, and work in the offensive zone. How many points does Ericsson need this year for him to be a complete success?

Holland comments on Suter & Parise going to Wild

We're better off w/o those two. If they really cared about winning they wouldn't have forced the team, that's going to employ them for the rest of their career, to give out contracts that would handcuff their franchise as long as they are on the team. These two aren't even cornerstone players to model your team after.

    Jonathan Ericsson. Knock, knock...

I think a lot of Ericsson's problem with scoring has been confidence. In this last year I've noticed he has been getting more and more confident, and going into next season I believe he will surprise a lot of people and step up. Ericsson's defence is quite good right now. He just has to take a step forward offensively and he'll get the chance this year. At the end of last season, and the first round of the playoffs, Ericsson was great and was even making some Lidstrom-esque first passes. He was moving the puck well out of his own zone and his all around defence was great. Ericsson's problem has been making plays in the offensive zone. A lot of how Ericsson plays has to do with confidence... some days when he makes a bad play he looks uncomfortable and lost and he just keeps making bad plays. Now he has a lot of reasons to be confident and the team is looking for him to take a huge step forward. Ericsson started as a blank slate, and year after year he has grown new skills. His defence is finally where it should be. Positionally he is great. Now his offence needs to take a step forward That's why certain D man get scrutinized so unfairly. Some people don't notice great defence unless they're piling up the points

    Young Guns

How old is Brunner? I say if you're going to be splitting time with Mursak and Tatar then take rotations on the third line with Brunner. Our 4th line is solid if they pick up a big centre we have a very effective 4th line but these prospects need to be working offensively and playing with Helm would be win win for Helm and our prospects. Nyquist plays in the top 6 an if he gets outplayed by Tatar, Mursak or Brunner than make the switch but no young guys on the 4th line. We want them to learnto score

Has the Detroit diamond lost it's shine?

Detroit as is will make the playoffs. I say pick up a big 4th line centre while trading Emmerton and some dead weight and let the kids play. I don't like picking up a bunch of free agents every offseason and making a half assed cup run. It will be exciting giving these guys an opportunity and I think will motivate them. But not making the playoffs is unacceptable. Keep stockpiling forward prospects and build a team from the ground up the right way.
  24. joesuffP

    Tomas Tatar

I'm excited about Hollands comments about letting our kids play. Tatar, Nyquist, Mursak, Smith should all be playing and growing. This team as is will make the playoffs. A big 4th line centre pickup, then our forwards should be set. No point in signing a bunch of free agents for a half assed cup run. Give Ericsson and Kronwall a chance to be the defensive leaders of this team and I think they will surprise everyone.

    Jonathan Ericsson. Knock, knock...

Top 4 on this team as of now... The guy is a defensive defenseman and pretty good I might add. People can't tell if a defenseman is good unless he has a hit on tsn highlights or gets points every game. Ericsson is solid and getting better. Funny how nobody noticed the leap forward he took in the playoffs while the whole team struggled. At least the important people noticed, the ones in the organization so Ericsson will get what he has deserved this season... Playing time and maybe even throw him on the PP... Thn we will have a guy who logs major minutes, kills penalties and scores all the while not receiving any shred of credit from these forums
