That Yandle contract is beautiful though. Kronwall would feed off this guy and would replenish his career. Last year IMO Kronwall massively underperformed, Yandle might be the spark he needed like Stuart was when he first came over. Do whatever it takes to get this guy

How so? Stuart and White were pretty much awful. Ericsson was standout all playoffs defensively and earned the praise from his coach and teammates. His confidence grew by leaps last year.

Ericsson has been stepping up, I think Kronwall is maxed out and Quincey will be better this year

These moves made before the Suter/Parise fiasco was just shoring up goaltending and replacing people. I really like the small moves Holland made. Would you people honestly rather have Hudler for 4M for 4 more years or Sammy for 3M and 2 years... Sammy is the better player and makes us bigger and stronger. I liked Hudler and never understood all the hate but I'm glad to have upgraded for cheaper. Those contracts given to Suter and Parise were retarded and very short sighted. Holland is going to be making major moves and our D will at least look decent by the first game of the season.

I've been saying this for a long time but I would trade Flippula.... If that's what Pheonix wants for Yandle it's hurting our team by not making this trade.

Franzen, Cleary, Mursak, Kindl for Yandle? What more do you think it would take? Couldn't give away Smith but I might be tempted to give up Nyquist

I want to keep Franzen. Really, when you look at it, Franzen's only had one bad season and it wasn't that bad by realistic standards. The thing is, I think Holland doesn't want to part with Flip because he is just starting to become what he expected. But I think Flip has more value right now and seems like the coyotes type of player. Franzen is a perennial 30 goal scorer and having guys that can be counted on for 25+ throughout the lineup is more important than having another solid two-way player

I need to hear a positive rumour about what Holland is looking at. I'm predicting he got right back to work after the news of Suter and Parise reunion but we need some rumours to speculate on. The news stung last night when all signs were pointing at the Wild signing but now I'm excited and want to see Holland make some moves

Sell the farm!! Make him a deal he can't refuse. Get rid of the dead weight on forwards and give us room for nicer signings on the forward position. It cuts the fat and gives us room to grow. Flippula, Franzen, Mursak, Cleary, Emmerton, Tatar all on the trading block

You can't blame Holland for not getting Suter, he signed a ridiculous contract. I admit I wanted Suter here and would have paid whatever it took, but in hindsight that would have most likely been the wrong move. Holland isn't close to done. Holland's going to be aggressive but he's not going to spend money just to spend it. He's going to make a trade and get some fresh faces in the organization and the team will look less bleak after.

Our forwards were the main problem defensively last year. I Think there's no way Holland doesn't pick up a D man though. I just hope he makes a big move

Sutter can S my D I think Holland would give too good a pitch. I don't think Doan could say no to Holland... Just like Suter can't say no to Parise... or Parise's wife... or Parise's parents

If we get Yandle at some point then today was a blessing. Much more reasonable contract for a better defensemen that fits our needs better. I say do whatever it takes to get this guy we need him. Than next year get Weber and our D is seriously stacked. Weber-Yandle Kronwall-Ericsson Smith-Quincey.........Damn!

I wish I knew what Holland was thinking. If he can somehow swing Yandle over here we are in great shape and I would be ecstatic that we never signed Suter

I'd rather have Yandle than Suter. He's signed for 5 more years at just over 5M. He's high scoring offensive defensemen and he hasn't missed a game in 3 years. Go all out for him and you could even sign Carle as well. Than go hard for Doan or Semin

You have to trade for a defensemen... We have extra forwards and no room for some of our young prospects. Get a D man we want to keep then we can sign some firepower up front.

This decision has nothing to do with how the team was shaped. In no way Holland's fault. These two guys weren't passionate about winning cups or being part of a dynasty. This wasn't a hockey decision. Suter will have to go down as the gayest FA signing. Chasing his bf around to whichever team he chooses

Suter wanted to come to Detroit... Parise didn't... Suter signs wherever Parise wans to go. These guys don't give a s*** about winning they just want to get paid and have fun. I'm sorry but this is just the way that American born players are. The stanley cup isn't their end all be all. It's weird cause most other nations are passionate about the cup but it seems as time goes on players are choosing $$ and lifestyle over being a champion

Maybe Dreger is hinting none of the tweets about Minny signing being a matter of time can be trusted. It wouldn't be smart for anybody in the Minnesota camp to leak that in case Detroit, being the more desperate team, upped the offer. All speculation.- 487 replies
