Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

We may have dodged a bullet here though. Still will be happy if he does decide to sign here but that long of a contract could potentially be disastrous. I'd rather give a contract like that to homegrown talent where you really think he deserved it. I never really paid too close attention to Suter's play but he never really blew me away. We still have options and I think Kenny is determined to be aggressive this offseason to get better. I still think Holland has the potential to built a contender w/o Suter.

I thought if we didn't get suter than we would be screwed but the more I think about it the more options I see. I just hope Detroit will make a trade of some significance. Yandle fits with the wings just sucks we have to lose assets but it might be time to unload some prospects we have no room for... Mursak, Emmerton, Tatar

We can still ice a contender this year through trade and free agency... Sign semin and doan and try an trade for Yandle and that's a nice line up with still a lot of cap room an lots of forward depth. Trade Mursak, Tatar Cleary Franzen or flippula for a Yandle-esque defenseman we might be glad we didn't sign suter

Signing with the Wild isn't a hockey decision or even a good career move. It's for personal reasons an for fun. These two aren't made of the same stuff as an yzerman or lidstrom. They were professional hockey players in everything they did

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

The wings have tons of cap room... What's wrong with having a forward that hits everything and plays hard with some intangibles? That's why Hudler was useless 85 percent of the time... He quietly got his points without appearing to be doing anything of use on the ice. Doan does a lot of good things while he's on the ice even when he's not scoring. With your logic there's no reason to have helm on this team either

Ya Hudler was a game changer and won us games every time he scored a goal. You look dumb comparing point totals when any idiot can tell you doan is by far a more valuable player than Hudler so just stop

Hopefully the contract is retarded for suter to the wild... If he takes a discount to play for the wild than that's just ridiculous

Doan a lateral movement from Hudler? Lol wow such a dumb statement. Samuelsson is an upgrade from Hudler

Don't think these two guys have very good character tbh but we need suter... We could build a Stanley cup winning roster this offseason but we have no defense without suter

That's the deal he wants... if we don't get Suter were screwed. This is some sick joke.

I think Suter is going to Detroit. The talk might involve trying to bring Parise over but ultimately I think Suter will be signing with the Red Wings. Holland simply wouldn't allow Suter to not sign. Signing Suter is too important to this franchise and Holland would give him an offer he couldn't refuse and not just $$$ wise. Suter has to hear the other teams out because it would be dumb not to but I think his decision is made we just have to wait. Also, nothing has been said that their discussions during this free agency had anything to do with trying to go to the same team, that has all been speculation. The only thing that baffles me is why he wants Parise to sign first. Maybe because Suter doesn't want a media frenzy and after Parise signs it won't be as drastic. Who knows. But this whole ordeal leaves lots to speculate about which is becoming painful.
  13. Regardless if we get Suter or not Holland has made some nice moves at the forward position without really investing too much money. If Brunner shows he can play in the big league a third line of Bertuzzi-Helm-Brunner gets me all sorts of excited.

Sometimes you have to overpay to get the right players at the right time. With the weak free agents the last couple years their salary is going to be inflated. The salary cap has been consistently going up... what might be overpaying this year may be a bargain down the road it's just the economy of the NHL these days. You can't relate a contract signed 5 years ago to a contract signed this year and expect to have the same value.

Parise wants to be a 10 million dollar a year complimentary player? Doesn't he ever plan on being the star forward on a team?

I just know yzerman or lidstrom wouldn't pull this

I'm telling you Suter knows what team he's going to he's just driving the price up by re meeting with these teams... Kinda think He's a c*** tbh

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

It's not about not knowing where they want to play... They are re meeting and negotiating new deals to get more money and it's working every time they meet a team again there contract is more money. I think they both know where they want to go and are leaving everyone in the dark so they take the team of their choosing to their max $$ wise

Not obvious at all... Flyers offered the most he would have signed there already. It shows he wants to play in Detroit but is flexing us for some more money. He is going to sign here but were gonna have to raise the offer one more time

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

I want doan and semin more than overpaying Parise. I'm very willing to overpay suter though. Then make a trade for Yandle. We have too many forwards I think flippula is expandable on this team and we will get high value. Franzen is a perennial 30 goal scorer with low cap hit he's more useful on this team like it or not

    Jagr signs in Dallas

    too much$$

with Suter, Semin, Doan, and maybe even a trade for Yandle... our team will be our biggest contender since 09 by far. Maybe even better than the 08 wings. Built from the ground up with solid pieces throughout the lineup. Really, really excited

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

I think this meeting and getting the raise is just Suter and his agent going through the motions to get a bigger pay check which, if you look at the Wings situation, it should be an automatic move. Holland won't let this guy walk to another team over money. They hold all the chips but at the end of free agency he will be a Red Wing. It's just a matter of how much it will cost. If his agent has Holland worried he will act more drastically, so the next few days will be hard for wings fans, but just know, Suter is pretty much a wing already.

Suter Watch: Decision today, down to Wings/Wild

Suter wants to play for the wings but his agent is gonna squeeze probably another 5M out of us. He'll probably meet with another team and put us through torture and then Holland will meet him and give a slight raise and the deal will be done on Friday. Suter and his agent have all the leverage even though he wants to play in Detroit he knows there is no other options on defence for the wings. Maybe if Lidstrom waited until after free agency frenzy Suter wouldn't have so much control and would have already accepted a deal. Suter is just playing the game, as annoying as it is, but I think it's clear he wants to be a Wing. Having all this uncertainty means more money for him.
