I love Abby Helmer in playoff mode Kronwall looked fine against Florida but idk what the hell he was doing in that first 10 minutes. Could have single handedly lost us this very important game

Yeah Washington is scary good with seemingly no holes. I remember the wings loss to them was the only time I felt the wings came out and played their game but was just completely outmatched

No doubt about it their is no consistent scoring team that doesn't get traffic in from of the net. It's become a key to all offense in today's NHL

Wings were the better team for all three periods. I think they have some serious confidence problems. A complete different team when they get scored on, luckily they were able to recover

Blashill doesn't trust the rookies defensive game

Having a guy like Datsyuk center someone like Mantha, Larkin , AA is huge for their development. Something the Oilers never had the luxury of doing. This time for rookies is very delicate for their confidence going forward

Lol Datsyuk is still the best player on the team. These young guys can learn a lot from him. He plays for the Wings as long as he wants to imo. As soon as he feels he's in the way of a better player I'm sure he'll know to retire but right now he's our best center and will most likely be our best next year and probably the year after if he wants to stay. People aren't noticing he's been playing phenomenal this stretch? His leadership by the way he plays is inspiring to the team trust me. These young guys see Dats taking slap shots and being physical for the sake of the team it makes them go out there and give what he does. His lead by example style of leadership is legendary and works wonders

Coming up in Q really did Mantha no favors. I think that's where most of his criticism stems from. He got away with playing a certain way over there because of his physical abilities but since coming to the AHL he's adapted his game and seems willing. No reason he can't become an elite all around player with his skill set, ability and attitude For years wings have needed a big bodied winger in the top six and they're able to just add a 6'5 mountain with endless potential. Changes the whole dynamic of the lineup

Hopefully Quincey sits when Kronwall returns Hopefully Blashill was just mixing up the lines to hold the lead. He clearly doesn't trust the rookies defensive game

Is Krieder a FA... He would be a great add Still think the focus should be on defense. Pretty sure the Wings are done with Smith and Quincey. Nobody in GR looks like a top 4. Kronwall is broken

My only worry on forward is when Dats leaves we'll have no dependable center unless Larkin and AA work their butts off in the off-season. Signing Stamkos would allow them to come into that role when they're ready.... Oh and of course the defense needs a total overhaul

Coaching?

The defense is awful but this forward group can score and is better than last year. We added a 20 goal scorer out of thin air and the offensive numbers are still in the toilet

I find it funny people refuse to accept coaching may be an issue here. This team has been an unorganized mess since the start of the season and everybody is well below their offensive projections. Special teams are in the toilet, shots per game and pretty much every offensive category has nosedived. Wings were always a below average defensive team, the whole NHL knew it, but now theyre awful offensively. Blashill hasn't implemented anything positive on this team. What changes has he made to benefit the team in anyway? Anybody without their preconceived notions would agree he's done a terrible job this year. Anybody who think we have gotten good coaching this year is objectively wrong

The defense is really really bad but the worst part is I wouldn't replace any of them with somebody from GR Really exciting forward group. Hard to say if Flyers sat back and the wings took advantage or that they really found a gear but they looked as good as they have all year. Without some really dumb mistakes they would have tied that game. Mason was really good too Just everything in the D zone is a nightmare. Every team in the NHL is telling their team to get on their D because it's really effective. The defense is really bad and nobody in the organization can make it better

Defense needs a total overhaul and Holland has a lot of expendable peices. Jurco, Pulkinnen, Sheahan, Smith and all the GR defensmen could fetch 1 or 2 upgrades. Not enough room at forward. Larkin, AA and Mantha are all full time NHLers next year
