  1. If Nyquist put up the exact same numbers but was 6'5" he'd be labelled a star by the league
  2. A guy like Gus scoring 25+ goals his first three years in the league is no small feat. He may not hit it this year but expecting him to blossom into a 90 point guy was a little unrealistic in today's NHL. Gus looks snake bitten to me. He has played very well his last 10 games but he's not finding the back of the net. I will say after the 20 game mark his play took a nosedive and he didn't appear to be doing anything positive but I think he's turned it around Tatar on the other hand hasn't done anything positive with the puck in weeks. He's fighting it every step of the way
  3. It's frustrating that a first year coach thinks he is the chops to be using all these obscure unproven strategies and is stubborn about it. He hasn't proven anything in the NHL yet and he's throwing out these "overmaching" lineups that haven't worked. Give the guys who score and keep the puck out of our net play the most minutes. He needs to simplify things big time

    Forward Line Combos/Discussion

hard to make up lines when our center depth begins and ends with Z and D and they play on the same line Richards, Sheahan, AA and even Larkin (as center) just aren't good enough to be counted on as an offensive threat that's defensively responsible. Blash needs to start working Larkin in as center because we are going to need him to be a good center men very soon
  5. So do we try Jimmy in net next game? I think it would be unfair to not get him back in the net sooner rather than later after his last performance

D-Boz tearin 'em up in the D!

Yeah I kind of hoped he wouldn't win the Calder and it's not looking like he will. For him to lead our team in goals and be among the leaders in points at 19 years old with our offensive challenged team is quite the feat It's hard to say if Kane is a really special player and Panarin benefits from him or if they both are the perfect fit for each other but what he's doing is pretty incredible
  7. Anybody have the clip of AA's epic rush in OT?
  8. Let's give DeKeyser 35 minutes when he's given up like 6 odd man rushes
  9. Green wasn't very good his last year in Washington and Richards put up mediocre numbers with a very good top six in Chicago and he lacks a lot of physical tools
  10. Welp... With Ouellette scratched looks like Green is the undisputed worst defensemen. Holland needs to stop signing guys expecting them to play better as wings it's almost always the other way around
  11. Well this basement dwelling team that played last night appears to be much better than the wings in all areas

I would go 3 years. Sometimes players want longer deals and have more leverage so we don't get ideal contracts obviously but anything over 3 years for a young goalie is going to be risky. Even Price had a lot of doubters until he had established himself

Because Howard is too expensive and aside from his last game coming off the worst stretch of hockey of his career. He hasn't won a game since December 2nd I believe. Think like you're another team and are trying to make this trade for the better of your team I think this just shows you shouldn't lock up goalies to long term contracts ever unless you're Lundquist or Price

Green has a lot of skill with the puck but this year he looks like he's just not moving his feet at all. Wasn't he one of the best skaters in the league a few years ago? He doesn't look mobile at all, maybe all those groin injuries have really affected him

You couldn't ask for better goaltending like what could you expect Howard to do? He stopped a 2-0 late in the third. Lundquist didn't see nearly as many quality chances and when he did the post bailed him out. That's about as great of goaltending as you can expect minus a few stick handling errors

Jurco scratched? I'd like wings just to unload some guys if only so we don't see such dumb lineups

    That 2nd line is ass

    The Petr Mrazek Appreciation Thread

It would be a tough pill to swallow nontheless I think we can all appreciate how hard it would be to be a goalie

I would have a hard time forgiving my goalie if he single handedly lost a game 7 tbh

Yup couldn't help but think this. It was kind of hard to believe we suddenly had a Carey Price-like goaltender. The difference between the elite and good is consistency

Blashill lines seem to have no rhyme or reason to them. You'd think your goal scorers ice time would go up not down. I think he looks at them being out their for goals against but our defense group was piss poor all around

We're playing a run and gun game with a team that can actually score goals

Blashill's idea of having 1 mismatched line in favour of screwing all our other lines hasn't worked all season and looks very stupid

I think their injuries on the back end are starting to catch up with them
