GDT 1/14 GDT : Red Wings at Arizona Coyotes, 9:00 EST
joesuffP replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Blashill has had this team playing better in their own zone but he hasn't had a strategy for offensive zone plays all year long. What is our strategy when we have possession in the o-zone? Pass around the perimeter until we have an open bad angle shot. It's been that way all year. I think it's because they stopped listening, go to the middle, win battles in front of the net, nobodies doing that because it's too hard when they're tiny. Babs got them to do it because he's scary, Blashill isn't. Nobody on this team wants to muck it up if they don't have to If they don't come out and win this period this team has no soul -

I thought we were bad for playing on the perimeter before now it's just ridiculous. This is the softest team in hockey -

Babs was scary so when he tells you to go to the net then you do but these guys are out there just winging it and nobody wants to play a tough game because it's too hard -

It takes us getting scored on for them to go to the net. That's how you score goals. It's like everyone is saving themselves the effort for later in the game -

We haven't played a good game of hockey in a long time... I think how many 1 goal wins we have is a bad thing not a good one... We could easily be basement dwellers -

Well we have one line that looks like their capable of scoring a goal tonight -
Aren't we 1-1-1 against Washington?

Gotta respond after a loss. Hopefully they don't feel too good about themselves, the road trips just about over! -
When's the last time a red wing even hit 30 goals? 09 Hossa?

I think Babs really scared the crap out of our defense... Way too conservative and safe. Slow thinkers
-
Our defense just doesn't shoot. How many times you see the puck go to the point and they just play it in behind the net. Our defense is a big reason why our scoring is so low and everyone's number are down. I've never seen a team struggle so much with getting the puck through. The first man usually blocks it up high it's ridiculous. That comes from not playing with your head up, also why our defense can't break a tough forecheck or getting pressured at the blue line

Wow never realized he was that good. He really is one of the very best 4th line PKers in the league.

Honestly, I used to love Nyqvist. He was my favourite player besides the vets, but this year I just hate watching him play hockey. He just epitomizes everything we need to transition away from to be one of the better teams in the league. -

Welp, our luck had to run out eventually. Dats and Helm looked better. Nyqvist is a complete turd, I really hope he gets dealt before it's too late. He looks even worse in the top six. Other than him, I thought it was a good effort from the team considering they played a tough game last night and against a very physical and liberal LA team tonight. They just have to respond against Arizona -

What I love about Larkin is he makes quick plays in tight. He's probably the only guy on the team that would have gave Sheahan the puck so quickly after the turnover and Sheahan made no mistake -

I just hope the Wings play well for him and give him a chance to get the W -

I think this can go either two ways with Jimmy. His confidence is just shattered and he's awful or he comes out with something to prove and he plays one of the best games of his career. This is a pivotal game of his career right here. Would be a huge shame if the wings came out flat after winning 4 straight and the first of a back to back on a tough part of the schedule. Do it for jimmy! -
I was very nervous about our record at the quarter mark just because we had played so many home games but we've turned out to be one of the better road teams. With how many close games we've played we could easily be out of the playoffs right now, but then again if our powerplay was too 15 we could be winning the division. Winning a lot of close games is a good thing, I think we've had a chance to win in pretty much every game this season except for a handful

Good road win. Mrazek was once again the difference. Still think we aren't looking very dangerous but they played one of the best defensive teams in the league. Really not liking Nyquist's game lately. He would be my pick to be moved for more size or a defender. Ericsson still but it hasn't cost us -

3 straight wins but not encouraging performances. Let's get some goals for Mraz! -
Shootout win... I guess Hirschfield had a seizure during the game, pretty scary
-
Trade Q for prospect at the deadline and go after Shattenkirk... Win win
-
I just think it would be unfair to scratch Ericsson because he is just coming back from injury. 5 more games with no improvement then I think he deserves to sit. Blashill loves Marchenko, they'll find a way to keep him in the lineup but scratching Smith would also be a mistake. Wings are in a tough roster crunch, a trade would help

That doesn't seem like a good metric to base a teams popularity. There's no way Nashville and Colarodo are the two most popular franchises
