What's with the wings barely getting any calls this year? Something to do with our embellishment fines? Didn't see anything too blatant, other than the high stick on Larkin but the refs definitely haven't done us any favours all year.

I think Pavs shootout problem is that he's really fosing on getting it on net more than anything so he sacrifices his strong deke that we used to see. I'd rather see Nyquist try and beat the goalie on a wrister. Teams must watch shootout videos and know that's his go to move. Haven't seen Nyquist try anything else on breakaways. It's either the quick shot or fake five-hole. Not sure he has very many moves for the shootout

Welp, probably had no business getting two points in that one so theirs that. We pretty much have to settle with Jimmy being the worst shootout goalie in the league, it is what it is. He played great otherwise, first star. Isn't it legal to put your backup goalie in net to take the shootout? I would seriously consider this as Mrazek has been a very good goalie in shootouts despite his minimal attempts I think the Caps are likely to be one of, if not the very best team in hockey all year. They look great, mostly their defensemen. Probably the best puck movement up ice I've seen this year. They are very good I liked Pierre's commentary, you can really tell he respects the Wings organization so much. Almost came across as a suck up, but he knows the ins and out of the team that's for sure.

Unbelievable that Larkin is excelling in even strength goals and plus/minus... Something rookie sensations would almost always struggle with... Veteran numbers

See how we do on the road... We've played a ton of home games, gotta find a way to be a good road team if we want to keep pace with the best

    Our penalty killers, WIIM article

WiiM thinks Glendening is the worst player in the NHL based on analytics, which he's not. Just shows you can't make reasonable judgements based solely on analytics. Another analytic peice a week ago said the wings will miss the playoffs based on their play in the first 22 games. Sometimes analytics go way overboard and are just ridiculous

    Hey!

Wow missed this game but sounds like I missed a doozy

Bummer, Miller & Pulkkinen out a while

There's some definite message sending to Jurco. If he doesn't come out balls to the wall tomorrow then idk about his compete level. I wish he would commit to being a physical presence then just go from there.

Dats on the wing is weird and just... why? I almost am starting to like when Blashill does lots of line juggling during the game. The team looks more energized, sometimes you're out there with Z and D and you're looking to score or sometimes you get moved down to crash and bang. I would be very surprised to see Jurco stay on the fourth line all game, he at least has to get involved in the game physically or he's giving his coach no reason to leave him in the lineup. He has to provide something out there and he hasn't so far

I think that the line of Nyq-Sheahan-Tats is good enough to be our second then you put Z-Dats-Larkin as our first and then call up AA to center the third

12/3 GDT : Arizona Coyotes at Red Wings, 7:30 EST

whew! Comfortable win I find myself hoping for off days for the wings but the schedule's been relentless with so many back to backs Hopefully Blashill does some line jugglin to put the Euro Twins and Dylan together because they looked fantastic Would it be possible to bring up AA for tomorrow? If Z-D-L becomes a dominant line that we want to keep together going forward we may just see AA start playing full time for the wings!

Jurco remains a healthy scratch, strange. I thought Blashill's plan would be to alternate him and Pulkinnen. I'm not a huge fan of Pulkinnen but the wings do seem to play better with him in the lineup for whatever reason

Wings Need on D and Glaring Inconsistencies

Dekeseyer already signed his bridge deal and will be entering his prime, I think he gets a big pay day. Mrazek will probably go to arbitration. It's hard to determine exactly what he's worth because his potential is very high but he's still unproven. He's probably a #1 goalie already but he hasn't been one in the NHL. Arbitration is the safest move but I'm sure other teams would throw huge money at him

I was thinking more about our embarrassing series against them

Wings Need on D and Glaring Inconsistencies

Hypothetically, would you guys be willing to swap bad contracts in a Phaneuf for Ericsson deal? He will most likely be dealt this year and he fills a lot of our needs. He's actually had a pretty good start to the season

12/1 GDT : Buffalo Sabres at Red Wings, 7:30 EST

Yeah but they didn't get into the goonery luckily. We can play a fast, physical game but when it gets ugly we usually cower. Not a terrible thing, just hopefully the refs are making calls and that our powerplay is competent, like it was last night. Kind of been our undoing against Boston... among other things

Yeah no doubt. That would be a hilarious match up. When does Buffalo play Winnipeg?

12/1 GDT : Buffalo Sabres at Red Wings, 7:30 EST

Yeah, I don't see the wings being able to outgoon anybody anytime soon. It's an effective gameplan against us when the refs don't call any penalties. Feels like our Penalties Called Per Game is way down from last year

Wings Need on D and Glaring Inconsistencies

I don't think Ericsson has been that bad. Like somebody before said, watch other teams defence play, these things happen. He's actually been one of the better dmen at getting shots through on the point (resulted in Abby's goal) and he seems in control in his own zone most of the time. Having said that, I think moving E would be ideal, even if it means retaining a bit of salary. Then resign Q or try our luck with Buff

12/1 GDT : Buffalo Sabres at Red Wings, 7:30 EST

There would be a completely different tone here if we hadn't found a way to get points against Buffalo. We look bad when teams get rough against us, we kind of haven't had an answer for it since we lost in the finals. Buffalo has a pretty mean blueline and the refs weren't there to protect us. That extra minor on Smith where Buffalo scored was a joke and not giving Georges the instigator on the Abby fight made no sense. Buffalo's gameplan was to rough us up and it almost worked

How is Montreal suddenly this powerhouse on both sides of the puck it's crazy. Their lineup doesn't look that great

Jurco on Conditioning Assignment in GRs

Blashill probably plans on alternating Pulkinnen and Jurco until people realize he has no clue what he's doing with his lineups

The Nyquist-Sheahan-Tatar line has been good, but it's at the cost of not giving our best player (Datsyuk) a decent finisher on his line. Idk what Blashill is trying to prove keeping Nyquist and Tatar away from playmakers that gave them career years. Without their scoring we don't make the playoffs the last two years. Blashill is going way overboard with his strategies. Having a dominant third line isn't winning us any games
