The defense really struggled with a much faster, bigger and stronger Dallas forecheck. Daley has been great on both ends these first three games. Very impressed. Green is pretty bad in his end but still making plays offensively so I’m content with his play so far. The rest of the D is just bad I don’t care who it is. Hopefully we see Hicketts for some games

That sounds good to me. Last year it was just Z. The Wings are a bad team and had a chance to beat a good team even with a weak goal by Mrazek (even though he was good). The defense is still there undoing. Routine plays result in the Wings penned in their own zone. No room for error with goaltending. They're going to get outshot and play in their end a lot pretty much every night. I don't mind this loss

Hindsight is 20/20. When that contract was signed he was a decent top four that played on the top pair and did a serviceable job. It’s hardly crippling as it is anyways. Abby’s contract is worse
-
Well his agent would be losing money by going this route
-
AA + DD = Trouba Jets are in trouble their GM is on the hot seat
-
Lmao he’s skating in Europe and nobody is even offering him a contract. This is actually funny at this point. He’s made such a fool of himself. I see where he’s coming from. It would be hard to look at Holland and my teammates in the eye after this
-
That’s why they pay big money for goaltending. They have there weaknesses so they need great goaltending. I don’t count on them outplaying the other team for 60 minutes with that lineup
-
I think the Sheahan line only got just over 10 minutes of ice time. Blashill was really leaning on the Larkin line late in the game and it produced a goal. That’s something we wouldn’t have seen last year
-
Now he’s in the Swiss league? No way they can pay him 3M per year. He’s just too proud to take Holland’s deal. Have fun
-
If we can dump Ericsson I would sign Chara for a one or two year deal
-
I don’t watch Eichel very closely but he basically got paid on draft hype. And all the media reports is how he took less for the benefit of the team. He’s nowhere near a top 10 player in the league but is paid like it for the next 8 years Late bloomers and unexpected stars on nice contracts is what gives you that edge when building a team

McDavid is head and shoulders above anybody in the NHL. Just born to play hockey. Don’t see one weakness in his game. Doesn’t get too emotional like Crosby too

If this were to happen imagine the board meltdown

Ottawa took them to double OT of Game 7 in the ECF . I was cheering for Ottawa there whole playoff run but they had no business being a cup finalist. Honestly, the East is a crap shoot come playoff time. I know it’s a red wings cliche but any team can catch a wave and take some far more talented teams out As for Winnipeg I think it’s crazy they can’t be a consistent playoff team with there roster. I know the goaltending sucks but still I think Rangers will surprise people this year and be a top team. Turning this into a predictions thread -
I think Rasmussen will get some games next year. They gave Svechnikov some NHL time and he wasn’t blowing minds. I’d say that’s one of the best first camps a prospect has had as an 18 year old in for the Wings in a long time

Ras gets it on the PP!

Wish Ras buries that one

Did Witowski play any games at forward this pre season?
-
He’s always shoe horned into the top 4 because he ‘looks’ like he should be a good defensemen. Big and mobile. I’m pretty confident sticking anyone that can actually move the puck in his spot would benefit the team far greater than signing FA’s like Daley and Green to play with him and move the puck for him. Every partner he’s had has done better without him. Jensen comes in and outplays him instantly and the organization thought he was a career AHLer. Even Ericsson is stronger along the boards and has a much better pass when he’s not on stand by mode
-
I would love to see Dekeseyer off the top 4 this year. I believe he’s the common denominator here with the struggling defense combos. He is just so bad with the puck I don’t want him being a minutes leader on this team

Great avi

Rasmussen looks close to NHL ready and I thought Abby looked pretty good in his first game. Goaltending has been very good
-
If AA demands a trade I’d let him sit for a looong time before I even thought about making a move. His position just keeps getting weaker and weaker Holland called the bluff good on him
-
If AA isn’t signed and Abby isn’t ready I think it’s pretty likely Frk will stay on that line for opening night Also I know Bertuzzi is injured but in training camp I think Witowski had him clearly beat for that 4th line spot
-
I was day dreaming yesterday drafting Dahlin and signing Tavares. Our rebuild would be complete in one offseason Would any team consider trading the first for a top five pick plus Larkin? Will teams pass up a true #1 elite defensemen though seeing as they are so hard to acquire around the league

There is no way Holland doesn’t go all out on signing him no matter what. Whether JT has any interest is a different story
