Sharp is only signed for the next two years. He'll hit close to 25 goals for those two years plus is RH'd. If the asking price is reasonable then why not -

Especially with Franzen being questionable Holland may feel the need to kick Sharp's tires. Two years of Sharp at +25 goal range would help. -
Goose hasn't even played two full seasons and he's a 25+ goal player. People are taking him for granted because of his size. I see him becoming a more well rounded player in the next few years

Phoenix has a whole bunch of 1st and 2nd round picks and need a center. Maybe we can flip Weiss

Washington is a much better team now for signing those guys last July. Franson is in the prime of his career and fills all our needs. I would overpay. I do believe Phaneuf is the better overall defensemen though but, trading assets, terrible contract, LH'd and older.

If we added Mantha to the Phaneuf deal it would have to be totally reworked... Something like Quincey+Mantha and Toronto retaining 1-1.5M is something I would be okay with -

Mantha having a bad season then getting traded to Toronto with huge expectations could shatter this kids confidence completely -
Toronto wants to dump Phaneuf's salary and rebuild. Could be had for prospects. Weiss was just tacked on to trade one crap contract for another but I think the deal would have to involve a completely different package now Phaneuf would probably be our highest scoring defensemen and his salary is huge leverage in the deal.

After all the hype, the actual salaries these guys get are a little more realistic, especially with the general inflated salaries around the league. Adding 60 more points from the back end is a massive boost. Having defensemen that can shoot the puck from the point change teams entire defensive strategy against us Not even close to the same type of defensemen. Ericsson>Marchenko his entire career -

I would love for us to get Phaneuf but I can't see Babs accepting to take Weiss and Smith. If they really just want to ditch his salary then maybe we can go Quincey+++ since he's in the last year of his contract? Babs would love to have Helm back Ericsson-Kronwall Dekeseyer-Phaneuf Smith- Marchenko Pretty balanced Quincey I would imagine would be pretty sought after at the deadline as well -
I liked him in Vancouver. Would be a good upgrade from Sheahan being the 2C but I'd rather see what Sheahan can do centering the second line. Highly doubt Holland makes a move for another center though.
