i hope we dont panic if suter and parise signs elsewhere
frankgrimes replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I think it is extremely simple, two major UFAs are hitting free agency today if you have to overpay do it. A guy like Suter may be worth 7,5 so if you overpay him by 0,5 or even 0,75 so what? In the end it will be worth it because he is our best option to reduce the hole Stuart and Lidström left. Same goes for Parise but I think he will sign with the Penguins or Kings. This team has to make some noice dare I say boom(?) this summer, otherwise we will be a team fighting for a playoff spot and maybe miss it for the first time since 21 years. -
I get an error message and can't joing

Signed Red Wings Sign G Jonas Gustavsson to 2-year deal, $1.5M/yr
frankgrimes replied to Tim.D's topic in General
I like this, two young goalies with tons of potential battling it out. Love this signing welcome to Hockeytown Gustavsson :-) -
Could be a great mentor for Howard but I am shocked, he is even considering leaving the Devils maybe their ownership cluster.... is worse than we thought?

No bad feelings here, good luck Hudler. Yeah, Holland has to fill some holes but keep in mind we dove have tons of cap space.

Welcome lids4president would you mind using some paragraphs, because that would make it much easier reading your text. Don't think another Suter and or Parise thread was needed, but I will be disappointed for sure. This offseason will not only be a test for Hollan, it is going to be one for our entire organization are we still one of the top destinations for high profile UFAs or not? Something everyone has to keep in mind, the days of players taking huge paycutts in order to sign with us are over, so I fully expect a caphit of like 8 million per for Suter and he is worth it. Guys like that usually don't hit UFA ever. Kenny might have to overpay but so what? The cap keeps going up and this guy is elite, also it would tremendously improve our chances to sign Weber next year. Holland will have to use some magic, whatever the outcome is, it will be an interesting day and maybe weeks, so I am looking forward to it. -
Nash is a tank and me personally I'd love him on this, but you don't trade your future away in a re-load/build spiral. Knowing Howson he is just trying to drive up his prive again.

Red Wings OUT of bidding for D Justin Schultz
frankgrimes replied to redwingfan19's topic in General
I just can't for the sake of me understand the hate against this kid. After reading some comments from Getzlaf I was like "thats not your business captain Duck"! Why should he play for a team he's extremely uncomfortable with? Just look @ how they are threatening Ryan, can you really blame Schultz for wanting another team? Yeah, they've drafted Justin maybe just maybe he never wanted to be a Duck? -
Prust us please Kenny :-)

As much as I would love seeing him in Red White Howson can keep his dreams, one of the dumbest GMs ever.

Sidney Crosby signs 12-year, $104.4M Contract, $8.7M/yr
frankgrimes replied to Tim.D's topic in General
or c. he took a paycut to get safety and win another Stanley Cup with the Pens now they have the money to sign Suter AND Parise damnit -
Another steal Quck 10 years and only 5.8 cap hit thats less than Brzygalov is making *lol*
-
I know everyone is high on Parise and Suter, but lets assume we dont get them...the drop off is huge so wouldnt it be better to start the youth movemen? Next years UFA class is extremely loaded so I would prefer that even if our PO streak would come to an end ! Thoughts?

What a steal if true! Shero is building a helluva team in steel city. They are an annual contender now. -

Well he's a super player and deserves every penny. We may hate him as a Penguin, but to be honest I'd love having Crosby reprasenting the winged wheel. Hope, he will stay concussionfree and I want to beat the best Penguins team possible (especially Crosby and Malkin @ 100 percent). Bloody revenge ! -
Red Wings OUT of bidding for D Justin Schultz
frankgrimes replied to redwingfan19's topic in General
Uhm, what is up with all the anger against this guy? He never said he would sign with the Wings, quiete the opposite. His agent made it very clear, Schultz would only sign with a Canadian team. Holland asked about him and Meehan told Kenny "sorry Wings aren't on our list" more didn't happen, so I just have a hard time understanding all the wrath. Murray can tamper himself this is just him trying, to put some fear into other GMs so the Ducks can re-sign Schultz and threat him like crap (i.e Ryan'ed him). Smith is a great prospect and should have a guaranteed spot this season, I am really looking forward to that. Maybe we'll miss out on Suter too if so, its also nice to see a young team grow together even if it means, our playoffstreak will come to an end. -
Red Wings OUT of bidding for D Justin Schultz

Why are people mad? Guy has not played a game with a big club yet, he made it clear he is only interested in playing for a Canadian team. To quote Holland :,, We weren't on his list" -
Wow Suter is going to be one happy camper, if Wideman is worth 26 for 5 years, Ryan will go through the roof. Expect a caphit of like 8.5+

Keep in mind a 550k raise for Crosby = 9.25 million per year could he command the salary maximum? Easily but I think he very well knows its better to give a bit, in order to gain safety. Other teams will still have a hard time, using the "Crosby Cap" against their future top UFAs, players and agents aren't dumb they would simple state, how the Pens are an annual contender and therefore players are taking paycuts. That aside, if Zach re-signs he has to be fully aware that the Devils might be a bottom feeder soon (Brodeur retiring, internal cap and what not) but if he does kudos to him and his loyality.

We have to keep in mind this war is based on millionaires fighting billionaires. That said for sure it needs to be fixed a bit (lower the floor and increase the highest celling, get rid off revenue sharing...). Teams would be wise to spend on their own revenue, otherwise we will end up with more situations like New Jersey and Phoenix. Being an angry fan won't help us, if there is a another lockout so be it, going to watch SEL, AHL and some lesser tiered leagues then would it suck? Sure but its not the end of the world. There are many reasons, why I'd rather side with the NHLPA than the owners but in the end we all want the same > another great season of hockey without losing games. btw. how do you edit your postings using the mobile app on this site?
-
Sure it were both, but the owners celebrated like they "won" and well they got *everything* in the CBA. Now they are saying it's not good enough anymore? Give me a break. Fehr already said the players would be willing to accept status quo. This to screams another lockout > owners fault.
-
I hope, Fehr will wipe the floor with this stupid commisioner and some of the "play it cheap because others are paying for us" owners. Last time owners got what they wanted and now their *own* ideas aren't good enough any longer? Screw them, I'll side with Fehr and the NHLPA, lets go!
-
Jagr and Semin? Two floaters in one team Jagr has been a great player no doubt but seriously, he didn't do anything in the playoffs, let both join the KHL and go after some full heart guys. I mentioned it in another thread how about Derek Roy?
-
Never realistically thought, he would come here. I can see him becoming a Penguin soon, he is a very loyal player but even Zach knows, the Devils could soon be owned by the league > internal budget team. Our top priority needs to be Suter. Schultz will want to play with his BFF Gardiner in Toronto or close to his family with the Canucks. Semin god no, he is lazy with a bad attitude let him join the KHL. Rather go after Roy, he is unhappy in Buffalo.

Report: Alain Vigneault confirms Roberto Luongo wants to leave Canucks
frankgrimes replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
I am honestly hardly surprised. You don't go from Vancouver (hockeycrazy canadian market) into the *biggest* one. Toronto while a storied franchise is a goaltenders nightmare. Watch the monster blossom in Winnipeg this year. Schneider is overhyped, he hasn't played a full season yet and turns 27.
