On the PP it isn't about scoring for the guy working the front of the net. Hommer was rare. Most of the time, the front guy is there to take a beating and block the vision of the G. abby is doing that. I have no issues with the job he is doing. But franzen needs to be replaced. try Andersson, he can't do any worse. if he doesn't get the job done, then the next guy. I don't care if they try Ericsson-he was a C most of his life. But we need some power forwards. Heck Big Buff would be perfect.........

No. Abby is doing his job in front of the net. It is/was franzen that sucks. No effort once again. As the anoouncers pointed out. If he is still hurt, htne put him on the IR. if he is healthy then he needs to play hard, or he should sit in the press box. He is doing nothing for this team.

yes he is. no he isn't a guy that is going to score a bunch of goals. But he skates well, hits, and works hard. The second unit of Smith, Kindl, Tatar, Abby and the donkey looked good. Lots of shots and lots of traffic. If we had a true power forward or 3 on this team, we would be much much better.

Once he signs, we have another good young big Dman. Yes start next year in GR and go from there.

For those that doiubt Howard, he is the only reason we are not down 3 or 4 goals right now. Getting out shot 21-9 and it is a 0-0 tie. Great job Jimmy!!!!!! Boys wake up and give him some help! PP lets go!

the thing is, Ericsson and Kindl are almost the same players just 3 years apart. Kindl just turned 26 and today is Ericsson's 29th B day. To date Ericsson has played 250 games in the NHL and Kindl has played 120. Career points are 53 for ericsson and 22 for Kindl. Both are +8 for their careers. I mentioned on another thread that for whatever reason Dmen seem to develop a little later. Most don't seem to hit their stride untill their late 20's. But they also tend to play later in life-late 30's is common. As for White, I think he is gone soon, baring another rash of injuries. I think it is pretty clear he was carried by Nicky last year, which was his career year for the most part. I like Huskins as the 7th. A cheap veteran with the younger guys. Cola can also go any time.......

Good win. Anytime you can go on a road trip and play .500 or better, is a good trip. I was looking at the standings earlier today, and 1 teams in the WC were spread over 5 points...... the 14th place team had 18 and we had 23. That is tight......... Half way point is coming fast, we have to pile up some points!

Yes The D has been improving. It started over the weekend, which I mentioned at the time. Kindl and Huskins played well together. The thing with Kindl everyone needs to remember is, he is only 25, not even close to his prime yet. How good was Ericsson 3 years ago? he was still making tons of mistakes. In fact, I think Kindl may be ahead of Ericsson at the same age. As a goup: Kronwall, Ericsson, Kindle, lashoff, Smith, and Q are pretty good athletes. 5 of the 6 under 30. 5 of the 6 over 6ft tall. The only negative is, they are all lefthanded. If we are able to swap 2 for equal RH Dmen, we would be set. But that is about all we need on the blueline right now. They are mobile, big, enough toughness, and enough offense.

Man I miss having Bill as a ref. he was as good as it got. Frazer was really good as well. kept waiting for some player to skate by and mess up his hair......lol

Colavaico has a NTC. Buy him out. Trade franzen or buy him out, prefer trade. Sign Clarkson-he should be our target while everyone is fighting over Perry. Also sign Torres over Clowe. He will be a cheaper rpice and is a much better over all player.

Well, that ends that. But in 2 years he is a UFA again, and if he continues to improve-which he will, he will be making 6+ million for 7 or 8 years.

Both teams were sloppy last night. I don't see many good passes either way. No, you don't win when you score 1 G. No one is working the crease in front of the goalie. Abby tries, but he really isn't a power forward. At least he ahs the speed to keep up with datsyuk. Those 2 were waiting on Cleary all night long.

IMHO Holland was hoping for one last hurrah before he retires. i don't think it is going to happen with this team as it currently is made up. If he starts to move veteran players for picks/prospects expect him to be gone after the year and Nil to take over. That way Nil has the picks and money to remake this team in the image Nil wants. By then we also should know if the move to the EC is going to happen which will dictate in part what we need to do.

LOL....Murphy just said that Kronwall is a big strong Dman..... Since when is 6-0/190 big and strong? That is under the NHL average size....... I know he was just trying to sound good.......

Bert and Sammy are only signed for one more season each. Vs Franzen who has 7 years left after this year, and Z also has 7 or 8. Plus Kronwalls 7 years..... All 3 are signed untill they are 40, and make a combined 14 million. There is a strong chance we will be paying all 3 for a few years after they retire. Let me rephrase that. We will be taking cap hits from all 3 for a few years after they are retired. Those are bad contracts. Just becasue Nicky played forever, doesn't mean those 3 can. But water under the bridge. As for FA's there are a few. 6 that i like. Let's see if 1. they all become FA's, and 2. if we are able to land a big fish or 2.....

Didn't say all the games were tough! LOL. But yes it gets a lot tougher from here on out.
