With all due respect, 25 year old signed long term Ryan is going to cost way more then we can pay. hell Boston and the rangers can both pay more than us, and both are looking for upgrades. if we are going to try to trade with the Ducks Perry is the guy we should be focsuing on. yes he is a bit better, but is a UFA next season, and i highly doubt that the Ducks can keep him. Plus those TV commercials with Nicky will help....LOL

Names yes, positions no. They can and do talk about what positions or types of players theya re looking for all the time.

No this hasn't been floated somewhere. Just one of my crazy ideas, based on rumored needs/wants for both clubs. Det sends Quincey and the rights to Hudler to Ott for Nick Foligno. Now if any rumors are correct, and lord only knows if they are, Det is looking to get bigger, faster, younger, and tougher. Ott is rumored to be in love with Hudler and needs 1 more D. Quincey and Foligno are RFA's. Hudler is a UFA of course. It helps both teams. maybe a draft pick back to Det to balance it out a bit more. For those that don't know Nick Foligno he is a 24 year old LW from NY. he is listed at 6-0/210 on 1 site and 6-1/215 on others. he is good for 15+ goals per year and about 90 PIM's on average. basicly he is a LW McCarty, minus the off the ice stuff. Would think he ends up in the 2.8 to 3.2 million range to sign long term. Thoughts?

Jones-a 27 year old 20 goal per year guy just got 4 million per year. Does anyone still doubt that Parise will be in the 8 million range?
-
It comes down to money. Quincey will be in the 3.5-4 million range, and Foligno will be around there as well.

here is one of many opinion pieces on Hudler and Ott. http://www.ottawasun.com/2012/05/16/top-5-free-agents-for-sens-to-target Did not know this was out there, but here is something of interest.... http://www.ottawasun.com/2012/05/29/five-sens-who-could-be-traded

That is why we are trading with them. Ott is a team that has limited budgets. They have needs and wants that we can help fill and visa versa. But hey it is just internet spit balling.....LOL

It has been posted here and on several NHL rumor sites over the past month. Do a quick google search and you can find it.

Again you are speaking to facts not in evidence. You have no idea, nor do I or anyone else, if Schultz is ready right now to play in the NHL. Did not Abdelkder go straight from MSU to the Wings? yes he did. Kreider of the Rangers just did it this year. Kreider was drafted in the same area of the draft as Schultz was. I am sure there are more examples of this, just have those 2 off the top of my head. You are under estimating the value of college hockey and over valuing the level of play in the AHL. Heck most seasons the Wolverines are better than the Griffins. Same can be said for MSU and other top programs. Dekeyser would be a great signing.....next spring. He has alreay decided to go back to WMU for one more year. IIRC.......

Zach Bogosian is who I was thinking of.
-
I think this will end up being a very common theme between now and July 1.
-
I hope they do make it. It is good for the league.

The Jets are cash strapped, they are poorly managed. heck they only have 4 players signed through the 2013 season. How does any team only have 4 guys signed? TBH if we are going to try and deal with the jets, I would rather go after their Dman Bo-soemthing or another. Big young Rh D. Fills more of a need.
-
Basing that on your decades of being a pro hockey scout and coach? fact is no one knows how anyone will turn out. yes that also includes Smith. A handfull of games does not make a career. besides, who said he has to help this season? if we keep Quincey we have 6 Dman already. i do expect us to get one of the 4 top UFA D's out there. The perfect solution would be sign schultz, 1 year at GR, then he replaces White who is a UFA after this season.

http://network.yardbarker.com/nhl/article_external/red_wings_gm_ken_holland_tells_waddell_that_he_knows_his_team_must_reloadfastand_avoid_a_rebuild/10940675 Not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but garrison would be a very good pickup. The story says he is a RH shot, but everywhere else he is listed as a LH shot. But still, 6-2/220 Dman that can score 15+ goals a year at 27 years old, works for me. leaves money on the table for additional moves as well.

That isn't schultz fault he hasn't played there yet. well it kinda is. But, when they did play at the same level on the same team, schultz was better. That is fact, not opinion. better numbers-not a lot, accross the board. Which if anything should make us more excited about going after him. Picking up another guy that is equal to or better than smith, and costing us nothing!!!! How can any logical fan not think this is a good move?

That is what I was saying. maybe in a more round about way, but yes.
-
Granted, when I typed that I missed a word. Should have been "one of the'. So i stand corrected. Cleary McSorley (spelling) was the worst, by far and away. Weird part was/is brashear played agian at the same level and Moore never was able to recover.
-
So let me get his right. Smith plays at the same school, in the same league, and per those on this forum he is a can't miss prospect. schultz out performs Smith and he is to risky, overrated etc........ is this what you are trying to say? just want to make sure before I bust a gut laughing my ass off.

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
Richdg replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Please end it tonight, so the real circus can begin! also it keeps the devils from tying us in SC's over the 17 years. -
These are the years most players do their best. 27-32. he is just entering his prime. His shot from the point is no joke. very heavy shot. Skates well and plays physical. if he was in fact RHed i would want him over Suter. But being LHed, he is just a shade behind. But pretty close. The length of their tracks records is the only real difference.
-
ya, holding a guy by the back of the jersey, following him around, pounching him in the head, then driving him into the ice face first, nothing cheap about that..... but he is a classic for the wings, who never ever do anything cheap......
-
Why would you say that? schultz replaces white, per Nill Nicastro is going to sign here soon and play in GR. 2014 gives him 2 years to develop, or not. Kindl also has some time to still develop, he is only 25 after all. but if he doesn't, then Nicastro could be ready to step in. Dekeyser (spelling) signs next spring and has 2 years to develop in GR, getting ready for when big E's contract expires. At best they become replacements and upgrades over White, Kindl, and E. At worst they become trade pieces. There is no real downside here....

There are some other options to be signed. But going home to Chi-town is going to be a draw.
