The problem is: None of these were an RFA that refused to sign a contract and therefore these and Trouba are not comparable like this. As Trouba is one he should come slightly cheaper. If we get him is a completely different matter of course. -

It's far from being a slam dunk. As Trouba is an RFA Cheveldayoff is the one in the driving seat and has all the time in world. Trouba training in Detroit doesn't necessarily mean anything. As he was born in Michigan it could also just mean that he is skating in the best facility near to his home. The race is wide open in my opinion and even if Kenny makes a reasonable offer including Nyquist/Tater, Mantha, Smith he might still get the short end of the stick. We all know the crazy prices for elite defenseman and the also crazy GMs willing to pay them. We also have to keep in mind Troubas cap hit. The 58 mil over 8 years he demands are ridiculous and paying that would be a bad move by Kenny. Trouba is still young and may not pan out the way projected. One thing is for sure though: This might be the best chance we've ever had to add a (maybe) future No. 1 defenseman to our core. And Kenny should be paying any price necessary to make that trade happen, excluding only Mrazek and Larkin. He just has to make sure beforehand that Trouba signs here for a reasonable salary and term. -
The next one. Edit : Can someone please correct the title.

Signed Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

As others already stated: Nielsen is a good signing, the term however is far from ideal. -

Way to early to begin line juggling given that there is probably a trade in making. That said I like the look of those lines. Our first line is probably the worst of the whole league, but second and third look great. We don't have the superstar player anymore, but we have at least depth going for us. Not the worst. -

I don't mind that at all. D-man are much harder to predict than forwards. Maybe Kenny found us another gem. -

RIP Gordie Howe. What else to say ? -
Ah well, that went as expected. Congrats to the Finns, on to the Slovaks.

Not much going for my poor Germans at the moment. Second PP goal, FIN 2:0 GER.

Probably because the first name of Nyquist (the horse !) mother also began with N. At least in Europe its customary to chose a name that begins with the same letter as their mothers. Owners can get pretty creative with that. Hence beautiful horse names like Garbage, Geespot, HaHaHa, ARRRRRR, BigT***, GayJay etc.

It's taken completely out of context and quoted wrong. He said "less can be more exciting" and as I understood it Holland said that in regard to the league as a whole , not specifically for the Red Wings. He also made clear several times that he wants to improve the Wings, but that it is going to be difficult and a long term process. Overall the presser this year was probably the one in which he was the most critical towards the state of the team. This article is not even close hitting the nail. It's far more close to the thumb......

If they have to use the company name they should have gone with Little Caesars Colosseum.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
derblaueClaus replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
We're not that desperate. No, thanks. -
It's pretty simple. The coach calls the name of the line thats going out next, usually by the name of the center. So if you're RW on Zetterbergs line and you hear Blashill calling "Z" or "Zetterberg" you know its your turn. Then you wait for your "changing partner", in this case the RW currently on the ice. If he comes up for the change you go. I'd give Blash some time. It was his first season, he made the playoffs. He also made a few questionable decisions, but I want to see him coaching another year before I decide if I hate him.

Far too early. Holland and Blash have a decision to make : Go on with the Babcock Red Wings that we saw during the second half of the season. Playing it save, let the tie go to the veteran, play a shutdown style with guys like Andersson in the lineup who don't make many mistakes but also aren't scoring. Or go with the new, the Blashill Red Wings we saw at the beginning of the season. Giving the young players a chance, with a fast and aggressive style of play. I think the time has come to change to the latter one. In fact it's overdue. We might not make the playoffs with it the next two or three years with either option. This team needs to get out of its current mediocrity and option two is the way to do it. I hope Anderssons SHL-signing is a harbringer of things to come during this offseason. -
