Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd
derblaueClaus replied to gcom007's topic in General
True, but you have to consider that we most likley won't resign Legwand. Not with Z,Dats and Weiss still on the roster. So its not Jarnkrok for a rental it's Jankrok for a rental for 20 games. So if everything is fine with Jankrok I'd still consider it overpayment. -
Trade Legwand to Detroit for Eaves, Jarnkrok + cond 3rd/2nd

There has to be something about Jarnkrok we are not aware off. Despite what other say : Holland is no fool. And it would be a damn foolish trade if he traded one of our Top5 prospects + something for a UFA-rental, even with the injuries we have. -
Thats true. But also doesn't do any good to make a trade just for the sake of it. If you can get a guy who can help us longterm then do it. If you have to give up high assests for a guy who we can just make use of this season don't do it.

Per StJames : Good news in my opinion.

Get it done Kenny. If you land him I'll buy my first Red Wing jersey.

Yes and it will be a Top 4 if not Top 2 D-Man. I can't see Holland make other moves if he doesn't improve or D beforehand.

As a German my heart knows who I'd love to see in Detroit more but my heart and nationatilty aren't good enough reasons to chosse hockeyplayers I fear. Talking the price point there a a few aspects to think about. If I was Buffalos GM I'd think twice about letting all my veterans walk, even if during a rebuild. Edmonton should serve as a warning here. Even the most talented Kids need someone to learn from. So do we know that Buffalo want's to trade Erhoff/Stewart so badly ? Vancouver on the other hand isn't forced to trade and that in itself will make a deal with them more costly then with a rebuilding team. And then there is the Gillis-Factor, that Marbus already pointed out. Also I think the Edler/Kesler package is considerably stronger than Erhoff/Stewart. Closing my heart out of this and letting my head do the work I think Kesler/Edler would also be the better fit here. They play a more puckmoving, ungritty style. Erhoff does too but I don't know enough about Stewart to know what kind of game he plays. Looking at his stats his PIMs standing out so i assume he's a legit powerforward with a very gritty style of play. Some say a piece Detroit is missing right now but as stated in other threads : Thats usually just not the kind of player our system needs. So I stick with Kesler/Edler. Only problem with the Kesler/Edler combo is the pricetag, so probaly my hearts wish is much more realistic than that of my head.

I'm shocked nobody came up with Little Ceasars Palace yet.

If you follow this logic then Weiss goals must matter more than Clarksons, right ? Because Weiss is supposed just to give assists so he has to work harder for his goals which are just the icing on the cake. We'll see who is better after Weiss played a few more games uninjured here, before that it's pure speculation how is better. But I agree that Weiss is likely to fit better into our system than Clarkson.

Same here. If only to end the discussion if Kronnwall / Ericsson is a legit #1 D-pairing. -

The German Telecaster from the ZDF-Stream obviously watched to many games on NBC as he's constantly freaking out about Crosby. It might also be because german sportjournalists know everything about soccer but nothing about hockey, except the names Crosby and Ovechkin. -

He still has a few years left in the tank. If he plays as captain of the Sbornaja at the Olympics and miss the rest of the season so be it. Pavel has done so much for this organization it's only fair to give him this chance. -

I watched Russia -Germany too, we were pretty lucky in the first two periods. Nevertheless they can beat Sweden and Japan if they continue to compete like this and in the playoffround everything is possible. But I'm looking more forward to the mens competition, that Germany unfortunatly didn't qualifie for.......against Austria. (Yes, Hockey is that great here.) So I will cheer for the USA and Sweden. -
Question is what do you expect from a No. 1 D-Man that Kronwall hasn't ?
-
WTF ?

I'll tell you a secret : They have one, he wears #55.

Good first, I like the teams effort. Howard is sharp too, we are not up two goals, so we should win this tonight.
