02/19 GDT : Detroit Red Wings vs Pittsburgh Penguins : 3:00 PM ET

Redmond said in the game yesterday that Mrazek is possibly in talks for trade. And btw I don't think Howard would be the replacement, I think it would end up being a Coreau/Howard tandem. You're right that you shouldn't trade a goalie with potential who is young. But would you do it for a 1st round draft pick? -
I also picked Ott because he has slightly better Corsi than Glendening (45% for Ott vs 43% for Glendening). Meaning while Ott isn't the best offensive guy, he still does a slightly better job of moving the puck. Also as people know, I enjoy hockey fights which he does. Even though he loses 90% of his fights. Still good entertainment for me during playoff hockey.

I wonder what Mrazek can get us in a deal. If it was something really nice then I'd go for it. But if the return is crap then I'd rather invest our time with him and focus on trading Vanek, Smith, Green. -
I picked Ott for the single reason that he's literally top 10 on faceoffs in the entire league (he's ranked 9) at around 58%. When it comes to PK, imo faceoff a win is the most important of the kill. I'd take that in the playoffs any day. I think that's one of the reasons why Draper was so valuable in our cup wins. It would be one thing if he was around 53% on faceoffs, but when you get closer to that 60% mark that's almost a guaranteed win against most centers not named Patrice Bergeron.

Well if you think it's a baited question then just ignore it instead of taking "the bait" and acting passive-aggressive and becoming all argumentative over a question. Although I'm not exactly sure how asking what one would feel if Mrazek got traded is considered baiting. I understand that people are getting on your nerves for truthfully speaking about Mrazek but not everyone is out to bait you lol. It was a legit question. It's a forum after all. Questions and discussions are allowed. -

Calm down jeez. Its like every GDT you have to lash out at people talking about Mrazek. Just relax. It's a game. You can ignore us. -

Yeah that line was all over. Bad teams can beat good teams from time to time. It happens. We're not a good team we just beat two good teams that's all. We got beaten by the Coyotes and Oilers plenty of times back in the late 2000s. Remember when the Blues beat us like 3 times in the 2008 season and they were bottom of the western conference. -

If Petr Mrazek gets traded in the deadline, how will you react? -

Dam you might have jinxed it. He might end up scoring. Nooooooooooooo -
The Wings don't need anymore 30+ year old players chaps. Hanzel and Boyle will be looking for long term contracts. You want them here till they're 38 along with Zetterberg, Nielsen and Kronwall? Shall we get all 5 a big cake when they retire one after the other and take spots from younger players in Grand Rapids? Both players are going to be regressing soon enough.
-
It was a good win but unfortunately meaningless one as far as playoff hopes. The Wings basically have to win around 19 of their 24 games remaining. 19-5 record overall. Is that possible?
-
Brutal Red Wings season and Zetterberg still keeps chugging along, 3rd game winning shootout goal this year and set up both goals. Not sure why people think he's not a good captain. Literally the only one actually putting everything into it.

Here's my opinion. Getting a 1D in the draft is always a hit or miss because defensemen have weird development. Getting a 1C in the draft is usually guaranteed to be good if they are in the top 5 pick. So I would: Trade Larkin for Trouba 1 for 1. Draft Nolan Patrick. Done. Just kidding you know we ain't getting Patrick. But let's say we get the 3rd pick at worst this year. I draft Vilardi and wish Dylan Larkin well and go visit Trouba in his Rochester home in Michigan this summer when he moves back. Maybe buy him a welcome home present or something. My point is Vilardi, Patrick might be in a weak draft class but they will most likely be better centers than Larkin. Whereas if you keep Larkin and try to draft a 1D, you never know what you'll get. Could be hit or miss.

nice backhand chip pass on that PP goal to Nielsen

So all these contracts end in 2021-22 ish. About the time Larkin, Mantha, AA and maybe Svech and the other youngsters will be hitting their primes. Honestly sounds like a good outlook strategically since by 2022 those said young players will be getting biggest long term contracts (from age 26 till mid 30s). I think these contracts aren't going to hurt our long term outlook and will be finishing up by the time the future players will be getting their main contracts. So, not a big deal.

Holland put him on waivers, Babcock claimed him. When Holland goes over to Toronto, him and Babs will complete their ultimate plan of having the Russian duo defenseman Zaitsev and Marchenko. Muhahaha

I mean it's just common knowledge though that management is a group effort in big businesses. It's not a godam dictatorship. We already know how some parts of the organization work. Didn't they come out with an article years ago about how rosters are done? Something about how the coaches get 1 vote, the captain gets 1 vote and the GM gets 2 votes and all of them have the power to veto or something? I'd imagine something similar happens between scouts, coaches, GMs when it comes to drafting. Someone linked the article a while ago (might have been me lmfao)

Not in 98 or 02. He played foward. He played defense in the 97 season. And yes when he did play on D he was great. Better than Dandelnault thats for sure.
-
Ok but in 98 and 02 Yzerman put up more points than Fedorov and he did that in 02 with one leg, not to mention Yzerman was well into his 30s when he was doing all this and on a downward trend. Do you see my point? One person had a disadvantage and did more, which to me would put him above. Either way, Holland was partly responsible since the day he took his job under the franchise. You're acting like Hakan found some guys and nobody had a say in anything. Just like in any management scenario, people put their heads together and decide, it's not just one guy.
-
Seriously? Most of them. Shared responsibility is still responsibility.
-
Who said he wasn't important? You said he was "as important" but I say the Conn Smyth trophy's say otherwise. So he's lower on the list than Yzerman and Lidstrom.
