  1. All of the players you listed can still produce points. At 31 Staal plays like he's 40. How do you not see an issue with that? A 31 year old should NOT decline like Staal has. That's extremely concerning and an immediate red flag. He's been playing with the same crappy Carolina team for the last few years and was producing just fine 3 years ago. Why is it that his production declined NOW rather than years ago when they still sucking?

    Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

Probably would have been better to pursue Helm and Neilson first imo. No one was going to sign Miller.
  3. Look it's a bad contract simply because of the length of term and his age. No need to justify with "well it can be traded" because no one is going to want a 35 year old with a $5.25 million cap hit. Nielsen is a good player and a good leader. I'd consider him a bit underrated in the league especially because I can tell most people have no idea who this guy is and jumping to conclusions. I'm not happy with the contract but looking at the positives, he's fills a hole that Datsyuk created. He is officially our top 6 penalty killer that I've been pressing for and bitching about for the last few months. He will reduce Zetterberg's ice time. And will likely push Miller out of the picture.

He's been declining for 3 years. And New York Rangers dumped him too after he failed to score a single point in 5 playoff games and was -7 He's 32 this season. 32 year olds don't suddenly start playing like they are 26.

He would be the worst 1C in the league besides Kadri.

Neilson is better than Staal my friend. Staal is on a heavy decline and Neilson is yet to decline. Don't you prefer that?

BoS wouldn't pay 7 million for Backes lol ( I mean he's not Sergei). I'd bring him in a heart beat if it was 2 years for 3 million. Then don't put him on 1C and have Sheahan as 2C and Z as 1C

I love how now that Stamkos is gone people are sinking to the likes of washed up players... Only to ***** about it once we get them. No more washed up players for the sake of fan hindsight whining.

$6-7 million for Backes is too much. Would rather pay Okposo 7 million and upgrade Larkin to his center.

Shea Weber for Pernal Karl Subban

This is true, Shea Weber is a thug. He smashed our captains head against the glass unexpectedly. League did fine him although he should have gotten a suspension for his thug antics.Looks like Subban wins in the leadership department too. Who wants a thug who smashes guys heads into walls instead of offering a fair fight. So Nashville gained a defenseman not only with better stats all around but also a better person.
