Game 1 3 - 3 tied in OT right now -
You might not care, but the people who paid tax dollars for it feel shafted. Can you say USED?!!? See quote below. Good way of explaining it.
-
Basically. It was supposed to be a Red Wings arena but it's turned into a Little Caeser thing. Mike Illitch trolled us hard. Would be one thing if tax payer money wasn't involved.

10 games and this kid broke LGW.com

Lol, like who? You should educate them. Some folks still live in a box and ignorant to whats going on in the real world maybe. . Every city has it's bad neighborhoods and Detroit nor Chicago or New York are exceptions. Downtown and Midtown (where the new Wings arena is) Detroit are some of the most luxurious and expensive places to live especially around Riverfront (where the JLA is located). They recently announced a $1 billion dollar MLS stadium. Lots of folks don't have an idea that there's actually two new stadiums opening here. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/2016/04/27/mls-soccer-detroit-gilbert/83593500/ Anyways that's off topic but that's a start to get you some info. Come to Detroit someday - we'll show you a good time.

I understand that. But I'm saying perhaps the mods want to clarify what type of "sports bar environment" they mean. The culture around Detroit is a very very positive when it comes to the Red Wings than the non Detroit people might expect. Maybe that's where the miscommunication is. *shrugs* Who knows.

This is what I thought I would be seeing....
-
I hope they change their mind on this. There's still plenty of time. This might be the one time I hope the press/media makes the idea sound stupid so they reconsider. I can make my peace with the name but I would really prefer if the exterior was committed to the Red Wings. Red and White please.

A minor booing for about 10 seconds in maybe 2 games. While the rest of the 80 games and upto 3 periods in 2 games of nothing but chanting. The team isn't the Toronto Maple Leafs and the fans definitely are more respectful than theirs are. The point is around here folks talk about the team sucking almost all of the 82 GDTs in season plus playoffs made here and in no bars in Detroit Michigan will you find people yelling that the team sucks unless some dude is really hammered and hates his life because he's going through his 5th divorce because his wife found someone else. Or something. I'm just pointing out what the bars in Detroit, Michigan are like when it comes to the Red Wings. It's a great atmosphere. It's nothing like the LGW toxicity. So if the mods want to specify and say "A typical Detroit sports bar" that would probably make more sense for them. I'm sure there's other sports team cities that have much less love for their team and one would likely find more "this team sucks" statements over in those cities. But around here where I live (next to Downtown) you won't find it.

Ok this is getting annoying as hell. Really? You chose a terrible name and now you want to put the giant ugly Little Caesar guy on top. Where's the Red and White?
-
I'm not saying I agree or disagree with everything here, but I did want to point out something in your post. You don't hear people say the bolded part about the Red Wings in Detroit. We tend to say things like "godam Smith" or "ugh wtf was that Hank" .. but "this team sucks" is a rarity when it comes to the Detroit Red Wings. And on the few occasions that it has happened I've made sure to tell off the guy . I don't take s*** from others about the Red Wings whether they a fan or not and tons of people have that mentality around here. Now the Detroit Lions on the other hand... that's another story. And as a season ticket holder I can also guarantee you that no Wings fan speaks poorly of the team in JLA. There was a couple times where they had some boos towards the end of the season losses. But that's as far as it goes. So yeah in the bar setting the negativity is always there which I agree with you. But at the same time, in a Detroit sports bar watching the Detroit Red Wings? No you won't find very many that take it as far as "THIS TEAM SUCKS" <--- That only happens on this website and HFboards and Hockeyfights.com

Would ya'll still consider the 4 cups in 11 years a dynasty then? The 4th cup was practically 3/4th of the team being different.
-
It's kind of crazy to think but... Between 1995 and 2009 we could have won 5 more cups had it not been for the reasons we just mentioned... 1995 NJ sweep was sad. 2003 Only if we could have beaten Giguere.. 2006 Our team was too good to lose to Edmonton (who went all the way) 2007 Wish we could have beaten the Ducks in game 5 - we would have won it all 2009 that game 7... Could have had 9 cups in 14 years if things went our way. Even if 1995, and 2003 we're a stretch that would have been still 7 cups in 14 years that we could have gotten.

Yep. Reporters are divas and they know it. It's part of their job and they should take it like it is. No need to feel for them it's part of their business.

Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread
kickazz replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
It would be spinning an argument to say he led in goals when nobody on the team had more than 1 goal. However the +/- stat had a wide range from -4 to +3 of which Abdelkader fell into -3 (2nd worst) while is linemate was +3. Not to mention his possession metrics were one of the worst on the team at 48.5% corsi and 49.5% fenwick. He had roughly the 3rd worst possession metrics amongst forwards. Tl;dr Abdelkader was one of our worst forwards in the series through advanced stats, regular stats and even through eyeball tests (hell even with eyeball tests Andersson had the nice play for AA's goal). He literally brought nothing to the table offensively (much like many others- the entire team was terrible) in the 5 game series except for a post game beat down on Blunden and a few laughs from Brian Boyle doing the chicken dance. I guess I'll give him shared credit for one of the two games he played with Glendening and Sheahan and did well against Kucherov.
