His 1 point and -3 rating was the 2nd worst amongst forwards. He hit a dude a bunch of times while on ice but that's about all he did this post season.

That's a pretty significant difference in points. That's why I didn't think sending Mantha back down was their worst decision. I did however think Andersson coming up instead was what made the situation stupid overall.

Not everyone is overrating him but all I'm sayin is comparing Mantha's first 10 games to players who started their first 10 games on the 3rd or 4th line without any PP time just shows one is trying to skew the argument to make Mantha stand out (which would overrate him). We'd have to compare Larkin's first 10 games to Mantha's first 10 games for it to be fair because Larkin actually did start his first 10 games on top line and PP just like Mantha did. I thought Mantha was a good addition, thought he added an element to the game we lacked (his big frame), and I think he looks like he has the potential to be a good player in a few years. He'll be a semi late bloomer I think rather than the weird exception like Larkin. I hope to see Mantha on the roster in october.

Good catch on Feds. Ofcourse Dats and Hank weren't elite yet but we still had plenty of elite players for a good run. The issue came in when the opposing teams goalies and coaches out did ours. 03 - Giguire 04 - Outplayed 06 - Outcoached. Pretty badly too.

Yeah Mantha is being a bit overrated around here. Using the 1st 10 games and comparing players who didn't get to play with Datsyuk nor on the first PP unit to Mantha who got to do both isn't much of a strong argument. Having said that I'd love to have him in the top 6 next season because it's not like anyone (except Larkin) is that great.

I wouldn't say it's because Pav and Hank weren't good enough playoff players (Pav was a bit of a late bloomer) but we had Feds and Shanny still up there. We lost because Dave Lewis and Babcock got outcoached combined with the goalies strong performance as you mentioned

Yeah looks like the mlive article he sort of clarified his stance when he said he loves the city, team, organization. Glad that clears that up. He definitely sounds like a "jilted" lover as you say. In regards to your point on him centering. I've said it a few times this year... it was awesome when he was our 3rd line center and I have no idea why they moved away from that. He was always a pretty good faceoff guy and his speed alone was deadly for 3rd line pairings. I really hope they use him in the role moving forward.

Hockeytown media is stirring things up. I posted this headline in another thread too. Old news being brought up again. With the way the season ended, stuff like this is bound to happen.

It's either that or the locker room must be divided about something. I'm not 100% if Helm is having an issue with the coach or is it with something within the team itself. But assuming it does have to do with his usage I would say your guess is correct simply because under Babcock, Helm got to play with Datsyuk a lot and under Blashill he didn't spend as much time with him and was demoted to 4th line a few times.

I think he does have room to talk seeing as though he's put into a position of decline simply because management hasn't found suitable replacements. I'd be sick of being drained and overused in 82 games too. I think at one point in the interview he even said that a transition needs to happen to the kids playing more but having to earn it as well (as in they need good players that can take the responsibility off, not just any tom dick or harry.. Darren Helm isn't the answer). So when he makes statements like "you need to be aggressive to get players" or "there needs to be changes" - I couldn't agree more. Holland mentioned in his press conference that the kids will get more responsibilities next year. Good.

If I had to guess, the younger crowd doesn't like Blash as much as they thought they would. I know the veterans all spoke highly of Blashill in their interviews today. Zetterberg straight up said he thought a coaching change was necessary and thought Blashill did well for his first year. Helm sounds sour though. Can't imagine what Jurco and Pulk think of Blash. Dropped about 15 pounds due to lack of workout since September. Planning on hitting the gym again in two weeks or so. Kept up playing hockey though so the cardio is still intact. Last summer I did a workout designed by Jim Stoppani really loved it.
