I don't think he'll leave. 1. He loves the Red Wings more than people think he does. 2. He knows the wrath of the Illitches and how they excommunicate people who walk away from the team. 3. Unless there was some crazy family issue (someone dying or his kids crying for their dad to come home) I don't think he'll leave till the one year left on his contract.

Never done it but I've been to tons of games and never felt like the security to enter the Joe is that strict. They have metal detectors and have a "clear bag policy" but nothing over the top. But if you have it tucked in your jeans/shirt no way they should be able to see it. Just make sure you don't look unusually chubby in the front stomach/groin area. I'd imagine the Octopus are squishy enough to not be noticeable. Your biggest dilemma might be when you actually throw the Octopus. If they saw you throw it - you're going to get kicked out and likely fined. There's a of security in the actual arena.
