Happy Birthday Howard. What better gift than to replace a goalie in net... And hopefully comeback and win? -

What if they rolled out a Mantha - Larkin - AA line -
Playoff push? I don't know about that. Big asset? Not the biggest. An asset? For sure. Our big assets in the last 5 games or so have been - Datsyuk, secondary scoring (thank you Glendog, Helm and Sheahan), and PP finally clicking. Without those 3 factors we would be nowhere. Smith and the rest of the defense have made a lot of errors. But in terms of Smith overall - I can't complain - he's been doing pretty well and playing the role we need him to. Way better than last season and years before.
-
I dont think this is true because Blash said in an interview that Pav and Z were in his office and he wanted them to play together on one line and they both said "well you need to give us time to click and not shuffle things". (Not exact words but something along those lines)But few games later Blash shuffled the lines up a lot lol. I think it's a combo of respecting veterans opinion but also going with what coaching staff and Kenny think is best overall. At end of day what happens on ice is Blashills decision regardless of what everyone says. But as far as Helm and Datsyuk. I think it's just a matter of Datsyuk needing a player on his line to get pucks for him- whoever it may be is Blashills choice.

The last two years with Babcock we barely made it into the playoffs and got owned by Boston and choked to Tampa. I think it's the players more than coaching. If the Wings struggled with the supposed best coach in all of hockey then we can't expect them to do any better with a rookie coach. But at least with Blash we got to see Larkin, AA and Mantha get some serious opportunity. If we make it to playoffs then Blash accomplished exactly what Babcock did with the Wings the last 2 years. If we we win round 1 he did better than Babs. If we win round 2 then.. Well I don't need to say much further- the media will.

Mrazek has not been consistent since the beginning of February. That's almost two months. There's some games where he played really well but there others where he let in 5 goals. Got pulled twice etc. It all started going downhill since his birthday. Remember when everyone thought he was hung over?
-
Wouldn't have had to make any clutch saves if he didn't let in the weak goals to begin with. Just calling it like it is. Mraz did well in second half of third but he should not have let in the weak goals. He's got to get back in his mojo from January if we want to get past round 1 (assuming we get in). Thank the lord our offense is finally clicking and scoring a ton of goals. Imagine if our offense was still struggling. He's got to bring his A game for Crosby and the Penguins. I want January Mrazek in net on Saturday.

He wouldn't be if Mrazek didn't choke during beginning of 3rd

Mantha's gramps and gramm are sooo proud.

Im stil glad Quincey wrecked him

Lol fair enough. There's also Okposo. We need a guy with some passion who is big and would score. (Lucic meets those qualities but if BoS is going to punch herself then I'd rather not have us sign him)
-
We should go after Lucic. Lucic would be a game changer for this team. He would be the perfect Winger for Zetterberg IMHO. His meshes really well with Kopitar and we all know Kopitar was the second coming of Hank Zetterberg (their style of play is creepily identical). Lucic - Zet - Larkin Abby - Dats - Tatar Mantha - AA - Jurco (new kind line) Helm - Glendog - Sheahan Or Backes.

Yes I agree. But what I am saying is. IF Datsyuk decided to stay another year or two I don't think he will be greedy with his contract. Yzerman took a huge discount and I'm thinking Dats will be somewhere in the middle. Nothing around 6-7 mill like some people are suggesting. Maybe something around what Jagr is currently making. Possibly only a bit higher. But the bigger point I was trying to make was that Yzerman's production had declined and so was his ability to play the 82 game schedule. Just as Datsyuk no longer can. Holland, Datsyuk and his agent will know this if and when they negotiate a new 1-2 year extension. His pay will reflect his previous performance and his ability to play.

Red Wings playoff chances 50.6% People's dream of the Red Wings tanking and it coming true 0% Mike Illitch/Ken Holland even considering tanking 0% People complaining for the next 5 years about us not tanking 100%
