That would be because Z and D, especially Z have declined a lot and Tatar and Nyquist , especially Nyquist suck more than usual this year. Thats 4 top scorers declining with one added 20 goal scorer. Doesnt help. What's the cause of this effect? Age, terrible PP are two good reasons probably.

It wouldn't benefit the organization if he retired. He would have to Chris Pronger his contract. He'll transition into a 3rd liner in a couple years and stay there like Yzerman did. The youth will need his leadership - he's been through a lot and learned from very successful predecessors (Yzerman and Lidstrom). The org will want someone who still retains those roots to pass it onto Larkin etc.

I have zero issue with Glendening. I love his work ethic. I have issues with how he is used. I think they need to groom guys like AA and Larkin into great PKers and centermen who can take important faceoffs. It will take some time. Used to be that our best PKers, face off AND best offense guys were our 28 year old Datsyuks and Zetterbergs. Now we have to rely on Luke to win a faceoff. But he can't do much else after that offensively speaking.

Someone who can score with a one goal deficit. Not Luke Glendening. Never Glendening. This is exactly why I'm saying they should transition back to using top 6-9 players on PK. Because of the fact that we don't - we get stuck using bottom 3 guys for situations like these. Guys who might win face offs but can't do jack with offense.

It's not about misuse. We literally have no one else to rely on. People are acting as though we have a 1A. We don't. We have Kronwall, Dekeyser, Green at best. They can only make do with what they have. Suter went home to Minn and the other highly coveted D-man just resigned with his own team (Byfuglien). Sure Yandle might be available but I'm willing to bet people will ***** about him if we sign him and he doesn't live up to it. It's the same thing with Wings fans. We get excited with Weiss, Alfie, Green get signed but then 1 year later it's all about how so and so is a bust and so and so signed X player and is a terrible GM blah blah blah.

So let me get this straight. Because Z is forced to carry the team and no longer can effectively he should RETIRE?!?!? The other stupid thing about "Zetterberg should retire" philosophy is that he still plays 75+ games a year and plays the most minutes among forwards on the team (next to Datsyuk). It's not like he's unable to play hockey. So what the hell kind of logic warrants a retirement. This is no different than when the morons called for Yzerman's retirement. But Yzerman played with one good leg and won a Stanley cup. Ended up shutting up a lot of people.
