Has Nyquist ever even played with Datsyuk? This seems interesting.

That's not a weakness. 90% of the time, goalies won't save a backhand forehand shot like that. The deke is that powerful. Not many players can even make a move like that to begin with. -
Nvm saw you said top 6.

Perfect way to make Water Cooler lively again.

Lines at practice. Abdelkader - Zetterberg - Larkin Nyquist - Datsyuk - Helm Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco Andersson - Glendog - Pulkinnen Richards at grandfathers funeral. Out of town for now.

Took day off due to soreness from previous game. Expected to play

Sheahan pulled that Yzerman move last year. That's a hard goal to score in today's hockey and that fact that he could do it shows his potential. The only other guy on our team that did that a ton was Z when he was younger. Here it is- He should definitely shoot more. -

Well that's the thing. It's widely known we have zero snipers on this team. It's a bit embarassing to say that our best sniper in the last entire DECADE was Hossa for the 1 year he played, Franzen who never even hit 40 goals in his life (is that even a true sniper?) and Zetterberg who can barely break 10 goals now and was a former 30/40 goal scorer. We went from having Shanahan, Yzerman, Fedorov to .... Franzen? (Zetterberg?) (1 year of Hossa?) and now no one. I don't consider Tatar and Nyquist snipers. Maybe mid tier snipers who do well in the season. But they need to be better in the playoffs, especially Nyquist. We need a pure goal scorer. Mantha is supposed to be that guy and so is Pulkinnen but obvious they aren't even close to being there yet. With that said, Tats and Nyquist have enough experience under their belt where they should theoretically be our go to guys in the playoffs. I understand the first few years for players is tough to adjust. But this is the year they have to be our scorers. -
McGrattan could still take a younger Chuck Norris

Everytime you talk trash about him he's on ice for a goal. Do it more please. -
Published fairly recently. Interesting. I wonder how a follow up study will be 10-15 years from now. But what I do gather is that the actually hitting is much worse than the fighting. And from the hits it looks like shoulder to head has a 42% correlation. Which makes sense as to why the league has a suspension policy on shoulder to head (as the principle point of contact) hits now. Elbow is the second worse.

That's what I'm wondering. I would like to see a long term study (I'm sure it's already happening) of correlation between hockey head injuries and fighting and/or checking. I'd say there's a direct correlation between both. In which case they'd have to ban both checking and fighting if they want some real results.
-
I think they'll try to eliminate head contact but I'm not so sure if it will completely ever go away. In hockey it's easier to do it obviously. (about to get off topic from hockey for a second) But Rugby, Football, and the fighting sports (MMA, Boxing etc) - just impossible to do so regardless of how much research (proven) is shown. They'd essentially have to ban the entire sports. Hockey is just the easiest one to do it imo. I'm interested to know the stats of head injury/concussions since the more stringent NHL rules have been placed with the league disciplining etc. And to see the long term studies on these players of the current generation and compare it to players of previous generations and see if there will be a decrease in brain injuries.

Ahhh the fighting / not fighting debate again. Grabbing popcorn.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg did it all (and Yzerman and Fedorov). If Larkin has that ability to do it all and do it well then he should.

I've been an Undertaker fan since mid 90s. I'll be rooting for him. PS - screw Vince McMahon for screwing over Taker's Wrestlemania streak.

I'm one of the pro-fighting fans (long as it's not an assault and a fair joust) but when crowd is too stupid to realize wtf just happened. That annoys the hell out of me. That was a face-on ice collision. They just kept cheering and cheering. Classless.

Going to have to see how the season plays out without Miller. This is the best time to evaluate if the PK can thrive without him. If it can't then Holland probably will re-sign him (probably 1 year) till Larkin can do what Miller does. Doubt he'd want another hole in the season (PK) going into next season. League is too competitive now.

Excited to see Larkin and Dats together actually. Dats is playing much better and the Larkin / Dats combo might actually click hopefully. Can be dangerous. -
