Maybe. Or maybe splitting time is better for him long term rather than playing night in and night out? He seemed to hit a wall last year after a stellar first few months. Who knows. But either way - splitting games isn't the same as being replaced in a game. He might just feel happy about having a chance to split and still prove himself after having to sit for the playoffs last year.

There's research showing both ways but that doesn't conclude much. I said "warm-up" not stretch (which is only part of an routine warm up). But anyways, Mrazek would have been sitting on bench for quite a while before being called in for a shootout. The question becomes is his reflexive ability at his 100% after sitting there for 65 minutes (+30 from intermissions)? Usually when goalies get replaced mid game, the first few shots against them are high risk for being scored on. But with a shootout, the first few shots IS all he'll be seeing to make or break the game. It's a gamble to replace the goalie. It's just a matter of whether or not the coach will take it. Then again Howard sucks at them, so maybe the risk IS worth it.

He's on LTIR already. I guess when I said "retire" I meant he would quit playing. My point was he did directly say in the WXYZ sit-down interview that if something big happens again like last time, that would be "it" for him. I should have been clearer.

I know we've been wondering why Danny D has been off this season.. I feel like having Q back will help. Him and Danny D were a good pair last year. Glad to see him on ice.

I think he has taken it. He's said it in interview that if he gets another major set back that he would retire for sure. I don't think Franzen is that dumb, he knows his priorities. He knows his health is important to him and his family. But his situation is a bit different since his concussion won't straight up kill him, it's more like a long term issue that would be nagging. Dupuis' issue is worse since blood clots can be fatal. A very tricky condition to deal with especially for an athlete. Kid I grew up playing with and played with in college had the same issue that caused him to completely quit hockey - I don't think he's stepped on ice since he was diagnosed (haven't kept in touch with him).. it's been years since then.

Nyquist is not AS bad tho. One time offender - assuming he learned his lesson. Neal was so blatant and repeat offender.

I'm expecting him to have an off year just like Zetterberg did last year. Lack of good summer training screws up older players. At the same time having Pav in the lineup still scares defensemen so that's always good to have.

Datsyuk is the type of player than has been known to create his own offense. Lack of training camp is taking that away it seems.

I feel kinda bad for Mantha. Leg broke - s****y season. Post season gets called out by organization (and us - including me). New season - Griffins start off s****y and Mantha isn't playing "up to expectations" and already scratched.

Also i didnt feel like starting a thread over this but since it is related to Montreal and it happened on game day.. Semin's contract with Montreal was terminated.
