Yes that is true. That's what I meant earlier in my first post. They definitely allow you to go down to the glass and watch the players shoot around. Even if you're upper bowl. It's awesome watching the players come out of the tunnel and shoot puck around and do some mini drills.

Since it's your first time I'd try to get there by 6:30. Not because you wouldn't find a parking spot but because there is a bit of a walk + you should familiarize yourself where you park and which way you'll need to walk back once game is over. Also you will have enough time to see the guys get on ice before the game and take your son to watch the players shoot pucks pre-game. Also I've been to lots of Wings games since 90s and have never witnessed any crime around the Joe. But make sure you follow your GPS or whatever you're using for directions carefully because just like any urban city - weather its Detroit, Chicago or New York, if you turn into the wrong ally it might be a bit creepy. There's tons of police cars outside the Joe once game is over as well for traffic reasons - so it's all good.

Zetterberg still shoots. Just not when it's needed. That's the point. He's taken plenty of slap shots post surgery. Maybe not as much as when he was 27 or 28 (just as anyone who isn't named Brett Hull wouldn't as they age) but the time and a place factor has fallen off with not only him but the rest of the PP unit as well.

He's had a bad back since like 2007 and taken probably 50 of those.

Yah I agree that Jimmy was a downgrade from Ozzie 08/09 years. And it took him a while to play legit in the playoffs (2013 playoffs probably being his good one). Mrazek has a high potential and at this young age is already playing at a very good level.

Mrazek's has only one more win than Jimmy does. He also happens to have one more loss than Jimmy does. So the whole "one can win so he is better" argument goes out the window as of now. Sigh.. now I'm starting to defend Howard. Again. Let's just say that Jimmy is terrible in the S/O. And his contract isn't worth it if we're getting a similar performance from his "backup".

Not a Jimmy fan myself but this is a weak argument. Mrazek HAS sucked the last two games and I'd say he's lucky we scored in OT in the Nashville game. Jimmy on the other hand was screwed by his team who had a damn 4 on 3 PP and blew it. Because aside from all the criticism we like to give him, he had close to 40 saves last night.

Hank probably. He has one of our best slap shots (aside from Pulkkinen). He just decided that this is the year he stops taking them. Since slapshots and 4 on3's don't go together... Except that they do.

Guy is 36 years old. In the hockey world that's "old". In the real world that's pretty dam young. And we sometimes forget that. He's thinking about 50 more healthy years he can live with his family. Not the 3 more seasons he can play. Smart decision - I wish the best for him.

For the folks who think we should switch Mrazek into the net for S/O Although it sounds like a smart idea. I'd assume the coach doesn't do it to prevent injury. The backup is sitting on the bench for 65 minutes. Muscles are tight, lack of blood flow, lack of a warm up. If all of a sudden he's thrown into a shootout where he's forced to stretch to make saves 4-5 times in a row - that's a high risk for injury.

Goalies have caught onto those moves. It's easier to get them down and score on em or to find a hole. Like Pav would have a better chance of scoring using his wrist shot and looking for a hole than trying to go blocker or glove side deke shot.

I don't blame Jimmy for the S/O loss We know he blows at them. I'm blaming Nyquist for doing the same predictable move and Datsyuk for the same one of two moves he's done in the last 20 shootout attempts. Anyways that's that. Least we got a point.

There was a time when Datsyuk was good at shootouts. Now he's either bored of them or sucks.
