The game wasn't great, obviously--but how about that fight? Those guys were throwing bombs. Haven't seen one like that in a while.

I don't know about most people, but I for one didn't consider Tatar "a reason to watch." I'm actually more excited to see Bertuzzi get some more responsibility, and maybe a call up of someone from the Griffins. Tatar himself has been average to below average this year, imo.

Like everyone else said, B. It's amazing that he wasn't able to trade Green at all, but almost equally amazing was the return on Tatar. Mmmmmm picks.

I didn't think either of them would bring a first rounder, consider me surprised. Definitely helps lessen the blow of not offloading Green.

I have a feeling he's going to put up pretty good numbers for the Golden Knights. Good for him, always liked Tatar and have thought for a while that he may end up being the better of the two between him and Nyquist, but time will tell. I still like the deal though, he's a redundant player here at this point and I want the Wings getting ALLLLLL THE PICKS.

But he's the best captain in hockey, am I right?

If we resign him I'll be happy. Can't hate on a guy who actually wants to stay with the team.

I would argue that Vegas should have taken Mrazek. Fleury is 33, even if you already know you want him as your starter what are you going to do in the future after he declines, or gets injured? If I recall, they have the cap space, so taking Mrazek is a low risk high reward situation considering his potential (which people still believe is there). But that's for a different thread/topic. The point is, Vegas didn't want Mrazek for free, yet we got Philly to give up something for him. If you don't see the win there, I'm not sure what to say.

We got a 4th for this guy when we couldn't even give him to Vegas for free before? I'll take it. I would've been okay if Howard had been the one that was traded and we went all in on Petr as well. Worst case scenario he s***s the bed and helps a tank effort, best case he turned into a legit starter. As it is we have a solid, proven guy in Howard and that's fine by me. Good trade imo.

He's got that saiyan quality. When he gets hurt, he comes back stronger. Super saiyan finger.

I've actually been thinking this lately as well. I don't know if he's got that superstar upside, but he is quietly a pretty smart player and it wouldn't shock me to see him be a regular top sixer at some point.

I completely understand. When I'm watching (which is every game) I want us to win. But when we do, a part of me is sad, because that part wanted us to lose. #Dahlin

I've still watched every game, but you're right it's extremely difficult to want to watch right now. It's just more of the same mediocrity and bad decisions (coaches and players) every single night. I'm not really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel either, which I know is a bit negative. But even if we land the 1st or 2nd pick this year, what then? One player does not bring this franchise back to relevance.

I know it's late but merry Christmas folks. I hope you all had a good one. I know we don't know each other at all but all of us are still sticking around here despite the Red Wing's current downward trend (and if you're around my age, it's the first one of this caliber we've seen), and that means something! Kudos to my fellow diehard fans.

While I completely agree that AA and Mantha need ice time, it's just a testament to Larkin's work ethic in my opinion. Mantha and AA look invisible at times, but Larkin always has that hustle regardless of whether or not he's putting up points, his drive is evident.

Definitely looks promising at this point. No guarantee, he still needs to take a good step forward. I like our odds though. edit: also honorable shout out to his work ethic. He always looks like he's giving it his all and is really looking to improve.

I really want to be excited about this, but the thought of finishing last or close it and getting unlucky with our pick spot is a scary thing.
