Foiled by Howard's enigmatic five hole again! But seriously, why the hell is Kronwall on the PP over Daley at this point? Kronwall is borderline immobile and struggles to make those in tight plays that are necessary to create space. Plus his timing still looks off.

1st and 2nd PP units should be switched. That younger line looks much more potent.

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but boy does Nyquist look ineffective to me right now. He has zero ability to forecheck and seems to fall over in the offensive zone once a shift. The real highlight though, this Ovie guy. What a monster.

As much as I loved this hit, is there any rule in hockey regarding similar hits to this? Like low bridge kind of hits? I remember when hip checks were a thing and was wondering why they aren't used much anymore.

I think it sounded much better at the arena itself. There was definitely a difference, but it still reminded me of the previous horn.

Had a blast at the game. Despite sitting waaaaay up in the nosebleeds, my view of the ice was still great. We're a mess in our own zone which is frustrating to watch, but it was really fun to see the kids put up all those points. Not to mention a clutch goal by the captain!

Even if I'm not happy with the management decisions and things like that, I'm always just excited to see what we do have and what it can do. Like someone else said, this mostly revolves around people like Mantha, AA, and Larkin. But honestly anyone of Nyquist or Tatar could have a random big season or take an unexpected step forward. This applies to a few others as well I think, and that sort of stuff just feeds my optimistic side some excitement. To me the league has just gotten a lot less predictable over the past few years, and that really benefits us Wings fans in our current spot I think.

10. By this point I'm always just hyped for hockey to start, whether or not I logically think the Wings are going to be any good. There's always a little optimistic part of me for a new season.
