Does that get us an additional pick? Or improve a pick? If not, I don't give a f.. -
Wings Sign Free Agent Goalie Matej Machovsky

Interesting. At the time I thought he was a decent prospect, but I didnt give it much of a look since then. We'll see what he can do. -
Brenden Smith placed on waivers ON HIS BDAY. LOL

Almost the same here. Same height, less weight, around 195. But I would rather fight Smith than some 5-8, 170 guy...my god.. -
https://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/playoff_prob.cgi According to their method (which I remember to be very accurate the last years), we won't improve from 6th best lottery odds anymore.

No buddy, same here. We're good.

@toby91_ca: Yeah ok, I forgot about the partial package option. That makes it easier and you can be more selective with it. If it does help the franchise with selling out, I'm not so sure. (not talking bout the Leafs, they might sell out no matter what is going on) @Neomaxizoomdweebie: I know about that kind of argumentation, have heard it multiple times over the years, no matter what league is discussed. Question remains...when is it enough? When will people stop spending their money on this? We'll see. -
Mrazek traded to Philly for Conditional 3rd and 4th Picks
The Datsyukian Deke replied to hankzet40's topic in General
Yeah, absolutely. Imho that's not just a Detroit problem, or a success thing. Sure, winning teams are at lesser risk of not selling out the arena than losing teams, but there might be another component to it. At some point, the pro leagues might need to consider that the number of games in one season AND the number of timeouts in one game might no longer be tolerated by todays fans. If I was living in the Detroit area, would I consider buying season tickets? NO, absolutely not, and that wouldnt even be about the price. It would be about the fact that it's 82 m...fkin games per season, which means you would have half your evenings every week blocked by games, and if you don't go, you waste money that you've already spent. Make it 60 games, 2 games a week, I'd be much more likely to buy. And every single game would be much more meaningful, too. And if you go to a game (or watch it on TV..), there is how many interruptions for commercials? 20? It's beyond me how all that could happen. If anything in sports would justify the pitchforks, right up the asses of the Goodells, Bettmans and Silvers, it would be this crap. Why do I think this is more of an issue today than it was before? Because with the way this world is developing, all the social media stuff, people just tend to question things more than they did in previous decades, and that's going to continue. And at some point, fans will say "hey, you know what? leave us alone with 120 RS games with 30 commercials, so that you guys can earn another 50% more of your already insane salaries...we don't watch that anymore". At least I hope it will turn out like that...sooner rather than later. -
Guess we can bet on rising cap. would be surprising if it doesnt, after Bettman talked about 78-82 for next season.

I dont think you can go from "not visiting an internet message board anymore" to "not Wings fans anymore". How would we know what these people spend their time with? Might still watch the games, might still talk about the team every day - but rather with friends or co-workers than on this board. -

You're wrong on that. I don't think the reason for people leaving message boards with too much "trash talk" is them being overly sensitive. It's more a simple rational decision going like "ok, there are enough people in my daily (work) life, that I find annoying and have to deal with...why would I spend time on anything like that when I just don't have to?". -

Just to mention....Bokk is the first german kid ranked in (or around) first round since Draisaitl. And I like the kid..last summer, half a year ago, when he was 17, his club in Cologne didnt offer him a spot on the mens roster in the first divison in Germany. What did he do? Went to Sweden, played in the Under18 team for Vaxjo. Quickly jumped to their U20 team, still thrived, they moved him up to their Pro Team, which is in the highest swedish league. All in one season, still 17 at the time. Hope he makes it...no doubt he has the mindset that it takes. -
With that full NTC, Goose won't be a chip most likely, unfortunately.

This. One could say "walk for nothing? we should've kept him", but he was making 4M, which he did not back up with his play since signing that deal. So chances for re-signing him where almost non-existent, and what else than trading could you do in that situation? And the return is very good, given the circumstances. -
How often has that "bringing back players, who we just recently shipped out at the deadline, in the following offseason"-thing, that is brought up so frequently, actually happened?
-
All Karlsson got to do with it is, that him becoming available out of nowhere made me just think, who else might be. Who could be willing to blow up their team after missing playoffs, underperforming, whatever? ... And why would we trade for a goalie? Because our goalie is just not good enough to win a cup. The only argument for keeping Jimmy and not doing anything is...as long as we dont have all the other required parts, the goalie alone wont win us anything. On the other hand..you look at the teams winning the Cups recently, they all had a legit 1C, legit 1D and a Top10 goalie (or a goalie, who skyrocketed into those heights just for that respective playoff run). Since Jimmy tends to become worse come playoff time, I'm not overly optimistic there... We dont have any of that parts (Hank is great, but declining, and Larkin is still some years away) and you know what? It might be a good idea to start getting them.

If you consider "extending everyone, whos been around long enough, until they need a wheelchair" a "move"..then he made a lot of those "moves". Oh, and trading talent for worthless rentals, another premier skill of his. Seems to me, dude is just really bad at keeping stuff together without killing every flexibilty. If he were only on rebuilding teams and doing only trades like Tatar and Smith, he would be cheered by everybody.

Well...those give me at least one of: a) no clear update, b) age concerns or c) health concerns.
