I don't see us calling anyone up from gr at this point, unless it's someone that wouldn't be paying anyways. So if we don't that leaves us the ability to rest what, 2 forwards? Alfie and Helm or Franzen would be my choices. I agree that Kronner deserves some rest, but I don't see him getting it aside from playing 19-20 minutes a night instead of 25.

Might. It was his first year pro and (based on the stats anyway, I can never watch the games either) he had a rough transition. Didn't register a point in his first 10 games or so, I don't remember the exact number, and spent some time in Toledo. He seems to have been putting up better numbers lately so magbe he's adjusting. I'll give him another year pro before I pass any sort of judgement on his future here.

C group is pretty weak in gr, but we're incredibly deep in Detroit. I believe Janmark came over a few days ago after his team lost in the playoffs. Backman on his way over soon too. Don't quote me on that, but I thought I heard it somewhere. With Backman coming over gr's D is absolutely loaded next year if we don't call anyone up.

The only thing I disagree with is which dman gets promoted. I have my money on Marchenko.

To be fair, he is still hot, just not the firey inferno he was. Since he got put on the top line he's gone 6 games with 3 goals, 5 points and -2. His previous 6 games he had 9 goals, 10 points, and +6. So he's still performing, he's just cooled off since being moved to the top line. Like I said. Edit: and mess with the lines now to have some chemistry and continuity going into the playoffs.

Could turn out that way, and I wouldn't be surprised if it did, but why have a kid sit up here when he could lead the griffs in the playoffs?

On that same logic though, Nyquist cooled off when he moved off the kid line because he had the other teams best D. Pav with Mule and Abby will draw the other teams top D, allowing Nyquist more space to work. Also a third line of alfie-Legwand-helm/jurco gives us a third line offensive threat as well. I think either line that gets matched up against the other teams third line/d pair will dominate and create a lot of offense. So the lines really aren't that bad in my opinion. Not to mention I think this is seeing up for what the lines will look like when Z gets back. Jurco goes to gr, Abby moves down to the forth and Z fills in where Abby was.

Cornel is an intriguing name to me if we trade down to get a second back. That's the route I think we'll go and I would take Cornel in the second. Tuch in the first and make him play center. Turn him into our Backes.

Accoding to sportsclubstats if everything goes our way tonight we'll have a 100.4% chance of making the playoffs. Seems legit.

Glendening is great on the pk, gritty, not afraid to mix it up, great defensively, makes us faster, annoying as all get out, and cheap. He'll probably move to the wing and add another decent faceoff guy to the 4th line. He can, and has been, sitting down some of the best forwards in the league on a regular basis. See our last game against Pittsburgh. Honestly what's not to like?

The Calgary and New Jersey game is huge tonight. If Calgary can do us a favor and pull this one out in regulation we'd need a very doable 3 points to clinch. Let's go Flames!

With all the kids playing like they are and a healthy Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Franzen for the whole year, I think we could have been fighting for a presidents trophy. Nobody said they're superstars. You have to give credit where credit is due though. These kids, most of which in their first or second full year (Sheahan, Tatar, Nyquist, Jurco, Smith, Glendening, DeKeyser, Lashoff), put this team on their backs when our two world class players went down and they're about to make the playoffs when everyone had written them off. No, none of them are currently superstars or would make an all star team (I could make a case for DK and Gus) so let's just completely disregard what they've done for this team because they're not all stars in their first years in the league. A bunch of rookies defied a lot of odds to get this team into the playoffs. Be grateful.

At the beginning of this year, I was ready to trade this guy for a 5th round pick. Out of options after this year, didn't show anything special stat wise in gr or in his cups of coffee in previous years, might make a bottom six somewhere, nothing special dime a dozen type of player. This guy got his shot, took it and ran with it. He's being exactly the player we signed Weiss to be. His hands are extremely underrated, has a wicked wrister, uses his size well, and plays the style of game that compliments skilled flashy wingers like Tatar perfectly. Wihout the emergence of him, tats, gus, jurco and glendening this team would be floundering near the bottom of the league. Sheahan is probably the most underrated of the group as far as media recognition, and one of the more inportant to our success this year.

Didn't Foligno go down for them yesterday? Thought I saw that. Not that it'll make a lot of difference but it could be one less big body to have to play against. Let's all hope Scott doesn't kill someone this game.

Wings win 5-3. Gus with a hatty, Tatar and Legwand with the other two. Franzen and DeKeyser with 3 assists each. Pav dazzles in 15 minutes of ice time but doesn't get on the scoresheet.

With Boston saying they're gonna rest some key guys before the playoffs I think the only game I've written off as a loss is the St Louis game. So yeah I agree, we're going to make the playoffs. We had a desperate need for a solid proven two way nhl center and a leader for all these kids that we have in the lineup. Now we don't. We seem to be keeping our picks so we can easily replace Jarnkrok, and we are super deep at C for the next 5 years anyways. Why is this so hard to understand?

Can't use a compliance buyout on Kindl. His extension was signed post lockout. His buyout would cost 788k for the first two years, 288k the third, and 888k for three years after that.

Not to play into the conspiracy that the NHL doesn't want us in the playoffs or anything but the caps are 2 for 4 on the powerplay tonight and the preds are 0 for 0 with 4 minutes left in the third. That seems weird considering how the games have been called lately and that the caps need a win for their playoff hopes.
