He's a pretty confident kid. Never looks rattled, even during a really bad game. Rough stretches, even rough seasons, happen to young goalies during their first few seasons at the NHL level. I can't think of many goalies who didn't experience some setbacks early in their careers. Maybe Ken Dryden? lol

I agree. But this is something that bothered me about how Blash handled Howard's return after injury. Mrazek was solid while Howard was down, then had a bad game in Howard's first one back on the bench. Next game Mrazek was benched in favour of Howard. There was no reason for that move. That next game, Howard was bad and lost 4-1 to the Yotes. So does Blash go back to Mrazek? No, he starts Howard again, and he has another bad game and another 4-1 loss to LA. Then Mrazek gets a win against the Ducks, but is benched next game for Howard again. He's starting to flip flop the goalies like he does the lines every game. No good at all.

I believe the NHL killed the no skate/ass/body in the crease rule awhile back. Goalies get bowled over now and the goal still counts sometimes.
-
He was pretty solid last time the Wings played the Cats, but ya, gotcha.
-
Good chances, or just chances? Luongo a factor?
-
No clue. I was hoping Coreau would start though. Give Mrazek a bit of time now and during the break to get his head straight and work on things with the goalie coach.
-
Just got home, put the game on, see it's 3-1 Cats. How is the team looking so far, besides the 2 goal deficit?
-
Agreed. The most Howard has ever done is "almost" win the Calder, and was like 7th in voting for the Vezina twice. He also lost a playoff series in 7 games after being up 3-1. Clutch. He's played 5 playoff games the past three seasons, losing the job to Monster, then Mrazek started all 7 the next year, then he lost the job to Mrazek last season.
-
Coreau starting tonight is cool. I missed his game against PIT. Gives Mrazek some more time to get his head straight for what's coming up after the break too. All for it. He will be fine. So many overreact because he came into a game cold and allowed a couple goals that weren't stoppable for any goalie.
-
Did you just compare Howard to the great Osgood with his 401 wins and three cup rings? Hahaha Howard has never done anything of significance in his entire career.
-
As for tomorrow, Blash hasn't said who will start yet. Would be cool to see Coreau play, hopefully with better results this time. Last game before Xmas break, so maybe let Mrazek get his head straight and work on things with the goalie coach during that time then start him next game and get him rolling.

What's that concert hall/bar in downtown Detroit? Harpo's? Looks like a sick place to see a band. Few of my faves have filmed concert DVDs there.

The magic man wasn't at his most magical last season though. You could tell he had had it and his decision to jump ship was already made.

Off topic, but what do you all think of the Salute to Service jerseys? I dig em. They look wayyy better than the other digi-camo things.

I'm sure the cheap Chinese knockoff sites already have them for $40 or something. I have the red Howard and Datsyuk jerseys from China, and they look just as good as the ones for $150 US on the NHL site, except the name font on the back looks a bit off, and the sizing can be a little hit and miss. For $40 though, I don't care. lol Anndddd, here we go. Larkin, Abby, Howe, Yzerman, Howard, Nyquist, Zetterberg Centennials $33.59 US with free shipping. Link goes to the Centennial jerseys, dunno why it says world cup. http://www.dhgate.com/product/2016-world-cup-ice-hockey-sweden-jerseys/390157251.html#s1-2-7b;srp|0038886097 Here's another one. You can get any players name here, even Vitale or Cholowski. haha http://www.brandjerseys.cn/Detroit-Red-Wings-list-64.html

Yeah, the Howard love is pretty funny. Hypocrites. I'll bet many of them are the same ones that wanted him off this team ASAP and complained about his contract daily last season, but now they think the team is doomed with him on the sidelines.
-
Howard has been the better goalie this season. And that's been a surprise to the majority of fans. No one thought he'd play this well. You would think he would have always been the better goalie with 6 seasons of NHL experience on Mrazek, but nothing whatsoever that happened before this season made him the better goalie. He was on his way out after last season actually after a couple years of bad, inconsistent play, and being benched after two playoff games. But Holland couldn't move him anywhere due to his "nice long contract". He was still in Detroit only because of that. No one said Mrazek was Jesus, but he has tons of potential, still young and continuing to develop and learn, and has shown periods of Vezina quality play already. If you have to choose between a 31 year old who has reached the height of his potential, or a 24 year old who is still developing his NHL game and has the skills to be much better than that 31 year old, and in many ways already is, you go with the younger guy everytime, especially in a rebuild situation..

Yep. That's why I say Vegas will have two great goalies after the expansion draft, while that wasn't the case in the four expansion drafts since 1991. Although Florida did snag Vanbiesbrouck, who was a major part of their trip to the Finals in 1996. A lot of teams have two goalies of starter calibre these days on their roster.

Found this: There once was a team called the Wings We played great and won lots of things But now we’ve got grit Our powerplay is s*** We look more like the old Dead Things lol
-
Now your just trolling. Howard has played like 5 playoff games in three seasons. lol
-
I get what your saying, but since that HOF team was put together it's been said that no other franchise could have afforded to do the same. It was said by some, mostly jealous fans of other teams, that the Wings basically bought the Cup that season (which we know isn't true, they did struggle some). Yzerman, Fedorov, Shanahan, Hull, Robitaille, Lidstrom, Chelios, Hasek plus some damn good lesser pieces...that was insane. If Illitch didn't give Holland a blank checkbook, no way he puts it together.

That World Championship was def worth this s***ty condensed season.
-
Those numbers are what ruins it. Supposedly it was to make them easier to see in the huge stadium. Not really a good enough reason to kill what could have been a really nice jersey.
-
Or just do the obvious and let the other half of the tandem, Mrazek, play. Considering how well he did last time Howard was injured and all. All the gloom and doom so far about Howard being injured (again) is nothing but overreacting. It sucks this happened to him when he's having a huge turnaround year (and building trade value), but injuries are a yearly thing with him. Mrazek will be good to go. Coreau isn't ready for anything but a game here and there. Looking forward to see him play again though.
