Nice to see a thread like this. With the way some post around here, you'd think all this past success and history was long forgotten. These achievements are what makes these bad times easy to take, for me at least. So they may not make the playoffs this season, or a few seasons. Big deal. This was expected for a long time and it's the nature of the league now. It will take awhile to solve the problems that making the playoffs 25 years in a row creates concerning drafting and roster and contract management, especially in the era of a salary cap. There's no quick fixes, as much as some want there to be. Roll with it, enjoy the memories, and try not to drive yourself crazy as the losses mount. It'll get fixed. One day.

Man people overreact. He'll be fine. Two of those weren't stoppable. Maybe if the oldest, slowest D man on the team wasn't left alone to defend on a 2 on 1 that shouldn't have even happened one of them wouldn't have gone in.

Or get Lidstrom and Rafalski out of retirement. Hell, get Chelios too. Even in his 50's he can't make this team any worse.

Best part is his $5 million+ contract and NTC. Guy wouldn't make most NHL teams rosters, but he's paid that well in Detroit. Maybe if he used his size and hit and fought it might make up for SOME of his talent shortage, but he's utterly useless in every way possible.

No. Mrazek is in so now the goals will come. lol

While he hasn't been as good as Howard, he's done pretty well, He had a rough patch for a few games, but when Howard was out earlier, he was rock solid, got 8 of 10 points, then had a bad game and was benched. His last start was a win. he'll be fine.

The scoring..OK. But no goalie? What? lol Looks like Coreau is coming up to backup Mrazek now.

Yeah he's a big dude. 6'6" I think, just like Coreau. Dubnyk was a goalie no one wanted for awhile though. Before he signed with Minny he finished the previous season 4th in the Habs goalie depth chart. He's been excellent since.

Howard is 7th stats wise, but he's only played 16 games. He's pretty much 11th after the top ten who've played 20 or more. Either way though, he's playing the best he has in a long time. I'm surprised he's kept it up this long, even after his injury. Good work. Dubnyk is 1st stats wise with 24 games played. 15-6-3, 4 shutouts, 1.62 gaa .942 sv%. Wow!! Who woulda thought that a couple years ago?
