So two weeks for Howard now? Will we finally get to see Coreau start a game? Hope so! Agreed. -

Damn right! That needed to happen. Least they have 3 or 4 guys who will stand up. More than the one or two last season. lol -

Well, Mrazek is a later round gem, and Coreau was undrafted..so yes, good job there. The goaltending is the best it's been since Hasek/Osgood IMO. -

Monster was another goalie I wish had better luck with injuries. He could be a solid starting goalie in the NHL if he could catch a break. Big guy, tons of skill, but made of glass. For that reason he will never be more than a backup, and can't really be trusted to do that. If he's on your roster, you better have a solid third option. Mrazek keeping the Wings in this. -

i think Howard will come back and continue to play well. He's kept it up for far longer than I thought he would. A week off shouldn't hurt, but we all know if he lets his mental demons discourage him, he won't look good. He's either confident and stellar, or discouraged and horrible. No middle ground. Way to play the puck Mraz! Seems fine after getting beaned. lol OHHH...you OK there Smith??? -
You said you are Chris Terreri, no? lol This could def work...

Howard was as good as gone once Holland could move him, but he couldn't so Howard was still on the team. Then he decided to play well again, and here we are. -

He did apparently. But now he apparently didn't. -
Exactly. Teams don't trade young #1D's in the cap era, especially ones they've drafted and developed, unless it's a deal like Subban/Weber. And those are very rare.
-
I understand the reasoning behind trading him at the deadline for assets, then re-sign him after the expansion draft, but no one knows if he will resign with Detroit. If he continues playing like he has been all season and is traded and doesn't come back to Detroit, that would suck.

Bout time Mrazek starts a game, although it took an injury to Howard for him to get it. Howard has been outstanding, and I understand it's hard for Blash not to play him, but Mrazek honestly hasn't been treated very well considering he was the supposed starter going into the season. He didn't play bad enough to lose the starter spot, but he did because Howard just decided to play like he should have been the past few years. It is what it is though. -
Jimmy Howard out 1 week+ with groin injury, Coreau called up
chaps80 replied to Jacksoni's topic in General
s***ty, but Mrazek needs to play anyways and needs consecutive starts without Blash turning to Howard too quick if he loses a game. Needs to get in a groove. I was hoping he'd get a start soon anyways..it's time. -
Yeah, I can see him getting passed over if left unprotected as well. Vegas would obv know he doesn't have much left, and if looking to build, you need guys that will be around for awhile. There will be someone else left unprotected that makes more sense, like Howard.
-
Bang on. Bryzgalov is a perfect example. Great in ANA, moved because he was #1 material and they had Michelin Man. Waived, picked up by ARI. Does great, signs monster deal with PHI. Stinks it up, bought out after one season. He's had a few other shots at comebacks in MIN and ANA, but he sucked again and was released. Least he's got $100 million to play with when he's bored.
-
Yeah, the league thinks what it wants to, but for most it could be seen as a real concern. He's almost done, got maybe 2-3 seasons left if he takes care of himself and isn't overused, and he wants to retire a Red Wing..the team he was drafted by and has spent his entire career with, won a Cup, had some great memories. Then all of a sudden he's in Vegas with a Knight on his chest. Maybe he'll retire after he gets picked then, wasting one of their 30 valuable picks. Later guys. lol
-
Jagr is still doing well for what...45?
-
Possibly, but it's not like Z is a 25 year old in his prime. The fact that he doesn't want to start over, especially with an expansion franchise, can be seen as legitimate. And Holland not protecting him could be based on his age as well. Need to protect the younger guys in a rebuild situation. Would the league see it that way though? Who knows until it's tried I guess....
-
Must have been great winning those two Cups huh? True, but I dunno if he'd want to start over with an expansion franchise when he's only got a couple years left in him. Not that there's much left in Detroit for him.
-
Chris Terreri. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a longggg time.
-
Didn't read the article, but the Chych thing still pisses me off, especially with the team in a rebuild. It was more important to dump a one year $7 million ghost contract than take the best guy available that's just starting his career. Awesome job.
-
Holland could leave Z unprotected, and then Z could make it known that he intends to retire immediately if claimed in the draft, because he doesn't want to play anywhere else. He started a Wing, and wants to retire a Wing, and taking him would waste a valuable pick. Couldn't see Vegas chancing it when there will be lots of other options. I see them takin Howard anyways if he continues to have a great season. That would be their one Detroit player they can take.
