I really thought they'd win Game 5 in that first OT. They had tons of chances and were flying, carried the play for most of it, but of course Kane had the puck when their D broke down and it was in the net.

Yeah true. Unless they face Holtby in the Finals. Jones is playing well for SJ, but the Hawks would light him up if given the chance.

No argument concerning Holland's past contributions and successes, but since 2009 it's been a steady decline, and it's getting even worse now that Z, Dats, and Kronner are all in the twilight of their careers, Mike Babcock skipped town, other staff have left, he hasn't been able to sign any significant free agents, hasn't gotten lucky in the draft, has traded assets for broken down vets at the deadline who end up doing nothing to help, etc. It's time for him to move on.

He did pretty good in San Jose, but ya, nothing special. Lehtonen isn't all that great either though. He came into the league with alot of hype. Drafted second overall and should have been s star franchise goalie, but never lived up to it.

Yep. But Illitch should have told him if he didn't want to move up, then GTFO. I doubt he regrets not doing something like that, because Holland is still around when clearly it's time for him to go, but I don't see how he can't be thinking about it. That and Nill turning the Stars into the highest scoring team in the NHL, and a cup contender, or at very least almost there. I know many of us think about it. -
3-1 Blues, but it's only the first. Chicago could turn this around before the end of the period, but I hope tonight's the night.

Kings defeated by the goalie they let go. Sharks closing it out in 5 against them is impressive. This might be the year they don't choke...

Regular season success? I do feel bad for the guy though. Sure, he wasn't very good in this first round series, but in past years, it didn't matter how well he played, the team couldn't get it done in front of him. He'll be 35 by next season's playoffs, so the door is closing slowly for him to get his cup.

I def agree, thought it was pretty stupid as well, especially at this point with the team in transition. Can't give up desperately needed major assets for one year of cap relief. A 7+ million ghost contract is very worthwhile to a team needing to absorb cap. -

I was just reading that some insiders are saying if Dats doesn't play next season and Holland does find a team to move the contract to, they'll most likely want a major asset like a first rounder along with it. So should the Wings just absorb the cap hit for the one season, or possibly lose assets to get rid of it? -

Just turned to game on. Can't believe it's this close and Philly is on the verge of getting back into the series. Yep. Looked like a sweep, but now the history of choking is starting to rear it's head.
