Not following the puck for just enough time to let it get by him. Lots of the goals scored on him are due to that. Split second is all it takes. -

Just tuned in. 1-0 TB already? Man, Howard has to stop shots like that if they hope to have any chance. -

The lines don't look too bad. I'm still pissed they sent down Mantha to play Andersson, but what can ya do? Hopefully Howard can hold the fort. If not, Mrazek should be ready to take over. I can imagine with the rest and time to think he's very anxious to get back in there. Just play hard for 60 minutes, show some balls and desire to WIN, go to the net hard and get lots of shots on Bishop. And most importantly, don't let up even with a lead because as they've proven, even a normally comfortable 4-0 lead isn't safe with this team. Tampa is missing Stamkos, and even though he wasn't a factor in last year's series, not having to worry about him is a huge bonus. Take advantage of it. LETS GO WINGS!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! -
6-1 OTT final. Wings are in despite the epic suckage.
-
LOL Well this ones over. Horrid game against a VERY depleted Rangers team. I barely recognized any names out there. Boston is pretty much done too. So the Wings lose their way into the playoffs? lol

nice Howard!!

Turned the game on with two minutes left. 3-0 win and a shutout for Howard. Was a must win and they did it. If they can play like this in the playoffs who knows what can happen. -
I was joking, but those are pretty good reasons why not.
-
Maybe, but I don't see it. Mrazek just has too much natural skill and confidence to play bad for a very long stretch. He's still developing as well and I think people forget that. He's in his first full NHL season, is the reason the Wings are even sniffing a playoff spot. He has a few bad games and all of a sudden people doubt his abilities and want to hang on to Howard after he plays a few good games when just a month or so ago many wanted him gone. I have nothing against the guy and I hope he can stay on track and get the Wings into the playoffs, but he's 13-12-5 with a 2.81 GAA and .906 Save%. Those are bad numbers for a backup, nevermind a $5 million a year "starter". I'm tired of wondering which Jimmy Howard will show up everytime he plays year after year.
-
Who knows. He might be kept for one more season if cap allows. Mrazek's performance has dropped off, but all goalies have a rough patch. There's no doubting his capability to be one of the top goalies in the league, and he's only 24. He's going to get a nice raise. Even Holland isn't that dumb to risk him walking when his contract is up. Coreau is knocking on the door as well. I don't think Howard has much time left with the Wings honestly. Just how things go.
-
Sucks for Tampa. Seems to be a few star players in the league going out with injury right at the wrong time.
-
Yeah that makes sense. With that being the case, if he retires while still capable with only one year left on his deal with a team he's played his entire career with, especially if he knows it will handcuff the team. that's a pretty s***ty way to go out, whether it's Pavel Datsyuk or not.

Chicago can still beat Boston without Crawford and Keith. Darling is more than capable in goal and they're D is pretty deep. -

I don't think anyone hates Howard. He's a Red Wing and whichever one of our goalies is currently playing better should play. I have a Howard jersey and I haven't burned it. lol I think what people hate about him is his inconsistency, and how easily he can be rattled. It's hard to feel relaxed watching him play because he's shown he can be great, and he's shown he can be horrible, and there's a very fine line between the two. -

Nope he's playing well. Only thing I notice is on cross crease passes he doesn't seem to be tracking them too well. He's a second or two late in turning his head or moving over. Either way, another win. Just gotta keep it up. -

Yeah for sure. He's usually good for one weak one late in a game. Really sucks that we don't know what kinda goaltending the team will get from either guy right now. -
Why does that matter though? If a player wants to retire it's on him, not the team. Having 7 plus million count against the cap for an empty jersey is not good for the team or for a league that wants parity..
-
Apparantly for family reasons? I don't really buy that. If the current team was a cup contender I doubt he'd leave his 7 million plus on the table just to go home to his family when he only has one season left. He's probably just sick of the state of the franchise and wants to bail.
-
If Datsyuk leaves after this season his cap hit still counts next season cause he signed after age 35? What a stupid rule.
