Mrazek has been amazing. If not for him we'd be a bottom team. Hasn't beem this much excitement over the play and potential of a goalie the Wings drafted in quite awhile. It's about time.
-
Guy got what he deserved. It wasn't a "mistake"..he goes right after the ref, whacks him good, then turns right after that to avoid the oncoming player. Not that it really matters to him i'm sure, but hope he enjoys his unpaid vacation and losing almost $600,000.
-
Good. He got his money, and it won't be coming from Detroit(assuming he was traded to the Wings then resigned). Also, no chance of giving up way too much for what could/would only be a rental.

Yeah, i just checked the rosters again, didn't see Marchenko in there at first glance. Ya, I guess Kindl's experience comes in good right now with the injuries, but it would be nice to see other guys get a shot. Will Kindl have to clear waivers again now if he's sent down again? If DD is out, that's indeed very bad news. Green is day to day though..hopefully he's not out too long. Gotta keep playing though regardless, so it'd be nice to see one of the young guys step up. -

Goalie Cam Talbot signed a three-year contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday, the Oilers announced. Financial terms were not released, but TSN reported Talbot's contract is worth $12.5 million with an average annual value of $4.17 million. Talbot was in the final season of his current contract with a salary-cap charge of $1.45 million, according to war-on-ice.com, and could have been an unrestricted free agent after the season. "It's extremely exciting for me and my family and it's an exciting time in Edmonton,” Talbot told the Oilers website. "I'm just happy that I'm going to be around for the next three years to grow and improve with this team. "I love the city so far. It's an exciting time with the new arena and everything coming next year and the downtown being built up, so I'm excited to be a part of this team for the next three years and hopefully moving forward and growing into a playoff team and hopefully a contender." Talbot is 8-13-3 with a 2.58 goals-against average and .914 save percentage in 26 appearances this season, including a .941 save percentage in his past 10 starts. The Oilers acquired Talbot and a seventh-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft from the New York Rangers on June 27, 2015 for three picks. Talbot was 21-9-4 with a .926 save percentage and 2.21 goals-against average in 36 games for the Rangers last season, including 16-4-3 with a 2.16 GAA, .929 save percentage and two shutouts filling in for Henrik Lundqvist, who was out with a vascular injury in his neck. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=798215&navid=nhl:topheads

Larkin "nervous" for All-Star Game: NASHVILLE -- Being an NHL All-Star and getting the chance to be in the Music City spotlight at 19 years old is as strange as Detroit Red Wings rookie Dylan Larkin expected it to be. "I feel more nervous than I would for an actual game," Larkin said Friday. "I don't really know many guys and I don't really know what's going on." Larkin was a fan until this season, another teenager dreaming of one day getting his chance but never expecting it to come this soon. He was playing for the University of Michigan last season, and participating in the IIHF World Junior Championship with the United States. Now he's an All-Star from an NHL Original Six franchise on pace for a 25-goal season before he turns 20 years old. Larkin is third in goals (15), assists (18) and points (33) among rookies. "Just to be here is awesome, especially as a young guy to see all these guys, how they handle themselves with the media and how they represent themselves in public," Larkin said. "It's just really cool, special to me to be a part of this. I grew up watching most of these guys." Larkin said his task this weekend is to introduce himself to as many fellow All-Stars as he can. "It's pretty cool just to be able to introduce myself and for them to recognize me, almost have a relationship with them," he said. "My goal is to come out of this with some friends so when we go to some different cities I can see some familiar faces and be able to say hello." http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=800226&navid=nhl:topheads

My thoughts exactly. Def looked deliberate. I dunno how anyone could think otherwise..he smoked that guy.
-
Yep. Andersson should have been the first to go. But that only made sense to everyone but Holland.
-
Philly might be a good place for Howard, besides it being the place goalies careers go to die. Howard for Mason straight up. That would insure he'd take over the number 1 spot, unless he's outplayed by Neuvirth. lol Masons only got one year left on his deal at a bit over $4 million. But they'd have to be willing to take a chance with Howard's contract. Might have to throw in something/someone else.
-
Well, Pavelic would actually be a better option than Howard for the Wings. He makes less money and only has one year left on his current deal.
-
Yeah Buffalo purposely brought in Lehner as a building block, along with the players from the big trade with Winnipeg. Least that's what they said about the move at the time. He's going to get a good chance to prove himself. I doubt they'd be in the market for Howard. Guess you never know though...
-
I think Mrazek will end up getting more money and term. Too bad those nice bridge contracts don't exist anymore. Some of Z's best years he was only making $2.5 million before signing his huge long term deal. Nowadays it's straight from ECL to big money.
-
Oh yeah, I forgot warmups.
-
Why would he waste money on a mask that won't leave the dressing room? Lol
-
The cap doesn't affect Chicago. They could lose half their team and replace them with no names, and those guys would be stars by the end of the season, and they'd have another cup. Annoying as f***.

Ferraro has 7 points in 37 games with Boston. HUGE mistake giving him to boot!!!

Def. agree. Sucks to see someone lose their career, but he's in control of what happens. He's getting starts. He should make the most of them and other teams might get interested enough to inquire about him. And no, I don't think he'll get his job back from Mrazek. He's alot younger, more talented and confident, and will only get better. If I was Howard i'd be thinking about my options. -
Andersson isn't being assigned to GR yet according to Blashill. He's staying with the Wings. The waiver was just a formality to allow them to send him down and call up someone if/when necessary quickly without having to wait for the waiver period to make the move.

Guess it all depends how things go in the next year or so. Maybe he'll get his s*** together and become a nice trade piece, or he'll keep sucking and Holland will be forced to let him go by whatever means necessary. No one will want $5 million sitting on the bench for 60-70 games a year. He'll have to lose him for nothing, because he'd be worth nothing. Just like Philly with Bryzgalov. No one would touch that contract. -

No, Jimmy did'nt have a bad game, it's just his habit of letting in a stinker at the worst possible time that did them in. If you can't make the crucial stops when needed, who cares about the rest of the game really? -

It's about time we have a goalie who can do that, instead of having to score 4-5 goals a game because our goalie implodes. -

Yeah, i'm not sure. The Wings are loyal to players, but I don't recall a time when they were overly loyal to a goalie who was playing badly or his career was done. Can't really do that, at least not for too long. I doubt Holland wants to lose Howard for barely anything, or nothing, but his trade value isn't high right now. He's a very expensive backup.. A change of team could help him out though. Guess we'll have to wait and see. If he can't trade him, he could buy him out, or waive him. -
