Don't really like the jersey itself, but the white gloves help it look better for sure.

Got a point. Let's get another! -
Stripping Z of the C and giving it to Larkin after 20 games as a Wing, regardless of how he's played or his potential would be much worse than the time the Canucks made Luongo captain. Why do threads like this even exist? Absolutely ridiculous, even for LGW.Even if Z was ever stripped of the C now, it would go to other guys before Larkin. The captaincy is earned in Detroit. Yzerman got it early, but that was when they were starting a rebuild centred around him after the long "dead things" era and in search of a new identity. This period is nothing like that.

Why does Howard always allow a deflating goal or two right after the team gets going? You can count on it. Oh well, he's gonna play no matter what. -

Let's Go Wingsss!!! -
Goaltender Jonas Gustavsson will attend training camp with the Boston Bruins on a tryout, Sportsnet reported Friday. Gustavsson, who turns 31 on Oct. 24, was limited to seven games with the Detroit Red Wings last season because of a separated shoulder and concussion symptoms. He was 3-3-1 with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. Gustavsson became an unrestricted free agent July 1. He is 60-55-21 in 148 games with the Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs. Goalies Malcolm Subban, Zane McIntyre and Jeremy Smith also will be in Bruins camp competing for the backup job behind Tuukka Rask. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=778256&navid=nhl:topheads Good for him. Hopefully he plays well, gets a contact, and has better luck with his injury woes this season.

Nothing wrong with wearing the jersey of an ex-Wing. I still wear my Cujo jersey. I actually bought it after he left Detroit because it was on clearance. lol But ya, like others have already said, Abby isn't going anywhere. I'm sure he'll be resigned to a long term deal before seasons end.
-
Yeah, Subban is in line for sure. He might be ready to make the jump now, who knows. Might just be their fans hoping he's brought along more slowly and gets consistent playing time in Providence instead of riding the bench in Boston behind Rask, who has shown he can play a ton of games. I think they'll take Gus too. They can sign him for cheap i'm sure, and if he stays healthy he'll be a solid option in goal while Subban develops his game more.

I may be interested if the fantasy league i'm supposed to be joining falls through.
-
Well said. NJ knew when to let Brodeur go, Dallas knew when to let Modano go, and Detroit keeps hanging on to Dan Cleary. It really makes no sense.
-
From reading what some Bruins fans think, Smith would be the most likely guy to get the call out of three younger guys, either by winning the backup job in camp, or being third string behind Monster. Subban isn't quite ready apparently.

Penguins Sale: Lemieux and Burkle asking for $750 million

They need to give up on the Raptors and move the franchise to America like the owners of the Grizzlies did in Vancouver. Basketball just doesn't have a big enough market in Canada, plus the team sucking for basically as long as they've existed does'nt help things either. -
Agreed on both counts. Sucks things never worked out for him in Detroit.

Jokes.

slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest

No doubt. What a joke. He has a non hockey related injury..how the hell does that allow them to ditch the contract? If he did'nt have the assault charge, you can guarantee we would'nt even have heard about it. -
Maybe. But he lost his job to Petr last year after Babcock gave him multiple chances to get it back. You think he would have done something then if he could have. We'll see i guess.

Ya, the cup win in '97 was the greatest feeling after waiting so many years, and after the Finals loss in '95. I remember watching the game with my dad who is a Wings fan also and saw them through some of their their lowest points, how happy he was. And thinking of my late grandfather, another life long Wings fan, how happy he would have been if he could have seen it after watching in futility since the last cup in '55. Then the repeat in '98 was just unreal. Great memories.

That lion will hop off his mask and eat players in shootouts.
-
Yeah, that one was horrid for sure.
-
I remember it was easy as hell to score in NHL 96. Just shoot at the net from the side on the goal line. Worked every time. lol

hahahaha nah, not at all.
