Canadian fans do, and nearly everyone watches playoff hockey in Canada, even if they are casual fans and don't have a favorite team. The Jets lose this series, and that's pretty much the end of the playoffs for many viewers. Two teams in the lower US states playing for the Cup, will be limited interest, not just in Canada but parts of the US as well. Some fans do like the Vegas story season, while some think it's making the NHL look ridiculous. Which it is. $500 million bucks and a very favorable draft format and you have a Cup in your first season? Uncle Gary strikes again. Not enough that the Pens won back to back Cups the past two seasons in a league that talks about "parity". Since 2008-09, four teams have won every Cup. Chicago with three, Pittsburgh with three, LA with two, Boston with one. Parity sure is working. It's the same as it was when four teams won every Cup from 1995-2003.

HUGE Bon Scott fan here.

Well, the Jets blew a crucial game tonight. That winning goal is not one Hellebuyck should be allowing at this point in the playoffs. If they lose this series, that one will haunt him. Must win on Sunday or the Vegas Golden Knights are Western Conference Champions. That sounds so ridiculous. What a joke that is. Drop a bunch of cash, buy an expansion franchise and get gifted a team capable of that in their first season. Yeah, they were guys left exposed, but most of them wouldn't have been if their former teams had a choice in the matter. 7 forwards, 3 d men and 1 goaltender to protect out of an entire roster. Previous expansion drafts allowed more protection slots. the 2000 expansion allowed either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards to be protected OR two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards. Things would have turned out much different had they kept that format.

Jets and Caps better wake the hell up, or it's gonna be one boring Finals no one will care about. Vegas/Tampa. LOL

Have Holland sign a deal where if he doesn’t win 40 games he’s fired and can’t accept a GM job anywhere in the league for ten years. He’ll suck, we’ll be rid of him, and have the best lottery odds. Mrazek over Coreau at backup would actually win you some games though, so maybe not a good idea. Holland/Coreau. Tank on.

Always on the list of most undeserving players to have their name on the Cup, no matter who the writer is. -

True that. He's only dressed for four playoff games. lol But is that a knock on Tatar, or just a situation where Gallant is more comfortable with the guys he's coached all season and wants to roll with them? Even though McPhee gave up three high picks for him, he's not needed unless there's an injury. But they had picks to spare, so why not grab some insurance i guess. No, his salary means nothing. You have to meet the minimum game requirements. Downey didn't dress for any playoff games in '08, but played more than enough regular season games to qualify. He deserved it imo. -
Murphy was a smart pick up for sure. He and Shanny were the final pieces, along with Vernon who mentored Osgood and got him ready for full time starter duty. Back when the Wings had patience with goalies. They spent a few seasons grooming Ozzie after they saw he wasn't quite ready and it payed off.

They're happy they didn't end up with the Arizona franchise back in Winnipeg i'm sure. lol And Quebec losing their franchise to Colorado when they were pretty well a solid goalie away from a Cup was bulls***. And of course, they relocate, get Roy, and win the Cup the same season. Pure kick in the nuts, although MTL never would have traded Roy to QC. But they could have traded for someone good enough to win it no problem.
-
Yep. They have a dedicated fanbase in Winnipeg that are always behind them, have been since they sold all the season tickets in no time to bring a franchise back there seven years ago. Never see much complaining from them even in bad seasons. They're happy to have a team again. Not the typical fickle Leafs/Habs fans, although those fans have more reasons to be that way. I've never felt like standing behind a Canadian team before, even Vancouver during their run, although I was pulling for Ottawa in the final four last season, but that had a lot to do with Pittsburgh being their opponent. The Jets are different, it's a team you want to see succeed.

And, that's how you shut down that Vegas offence. Great game by the Jets tonight, and they can play even better imo. Keep it up boys, three to go!!

It's OK. Chris Rock said once they can figure out how to make a heated hockey rink, black people will take this sport over too. They really do dominate everything else. Hockey is a predominantly white sport, so there will always be racist dickheads. Not excusing it, just how it is. Jackie Robinson faced more racism and violence and threats than probably anyone in the history of sport when he broke into MLB, but he dealt with it, developed very thick skin, and showed em on the field that he not only belonged, he was a dominant player. The black players in hockey need to do the same. Just ignore it and prove you belong. Flipping out and letting it get to you just makes it worse.

The Jets are a tougher team physically, have as much scoring depth, better defence, and a Vezina finalist in net who looks calm and focused. Vegas beat LA and SJ, but the Jets are like a combination of both. The toughness of LA and the scoring power of SJ. We all know Fleury is due for a meltdown soon too. Jets in 6.
-
'97 no, but once Vladdy was forced into early retirement, he stepped up big time starting in '98. That was straight from Bowman.
-
Haha watch out, he will be one somewhere in the league next season. Maybe even Detroit. Holland got a third and Philly isn't re-signing him. Kenny loves re-signing former Wings, and he won't have to pay him close to 4 million anymore... I'm joking. Kinda... HAHA He's worth a shot. Can't be any worse than our great Howard/Coreau tandem.
-
I figure the Jets will take care of Vegas.
-
I always forget Holland was a goalie.
-
Yeah, Murray's injury history is long enough for a guy that just finished his third NHL season. He's good, but still young, and despite how well he can play and winning two Cups already (which may have had quite a bit to do with the team in front of him and the refs..), he could fizzle out. Fleury is the better, more proven, experienced goalie. Can't believe i just gave Fleury props, but yeah, he's backstopped an expansion team to the Conf Finals in their inaugural season. Can't deny he's been excellent.
-
Leighton would be good for depth. We do need warm bodies in net in the system. lol Lyon actually has promise.
-
CBC was saying they think if Nashville loses this one, Rinne is out the door. I think he has one more year on his deal, as does Jimmy. I'd trade Howard and a prospect/pick for him. lol
-
Pretty much. McCollum was a hell of a goalie in junior, which is why Detroit gambled a late first on him. But as we all know, he could never crack the big team in over a decade with the franchise. He didn't give the team any reason to give him a backup spot over a UFA journeyman and then was leapfrogged by both Mrazek and Coreau. Bust.
-
That's why i led the post with drafting goalies is often a crapshoot. Late rounders have become elite, first rounders have become busts. I'm not sure we'll see any of those three that quickly, unless the past way of over ripening goalies in the minors is out the window now. They brought Howard along slowly, and Mrazek would have been in the AHL longer too if he didn't come up and steal a spot. Hopefully the outlook towards that has changed. Really like to get Grubauer this summer somehow.
-
Saros is short. I thought Petr was small. lol
-
True, but they got one back. I dunno if i'd bet on the far less experienced goalie in a 2-1 game. I want the Jets to win anyways though, so no Rinne works out.

I like that Lyon kid. Kenny?????
