Not the next Price, but at least Price was given his shot through down times and was held onto and told he was their future top guy when they traded Halak instead of him, when Halak was the better goalie at the time. It's about keeping your assets with high potential instead of older vets or others that have topped out. Oh well, hopefully Mrazek is still a Wing later today. If not, I hope Coreau or Matej can handle the work or Holland picks up an insurance goalie, cause Howard will have another injury or falter at some point. It's one of those inevitable things. But they said the same about goalies before too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Franzen is a different story. His salary doesn't count against the cap with him on LTIRetirement, and he's not taking up a roster spot that a younger player can fill. But obviously, if Kronwall is still able to play somewhat, he can't go on LTIR. So if he has to be kept on the roster, his playing time needs to be managed much better. He's still logging around 20 min of ice time a game. That's too much. That's on Blashill though, not Holland. But if Blashill cut his minutes or simply scratched him most of the season, would he hear about it from Holland? He's not Mike Babcock. I think he'd hear about it. And fully agreed on Smith. I watched him a lot in his OHL days with Sudbury. He gave me near heart attacks as well. Never thought he'd make the NHL, much less put up some great numbers, make huge money, and stick there for a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Weiss never lived up to his potential in Detroit after the injury, considering his play in Florida. Babs didn't do him any favours though. Is he even in the league anymore? Tootoo should have been played more. He brought something the team could have used. Was dissapointed in how he was treated and then bought out. 6 years can be a huge difference in an aging players career, especially one that was overused and overworked. Everyone loves numbers around here. Look at Kronwalls last season. He's done. Can't keep up anymore, and is no longer a feared defender. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So something that should have happened years ago finally happens. Sweet. At least the control of the roster is out of his hands. Let him be a figure head like Jimmy D. It's too bad Jimmy D doesn't have more input, things would probably be better. Rebuild Kenny? Nah Jimmy, were playoff bound! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, seems like the cost is always too high. No deals unless they cost minimal minor league assets and are going to be completely in his favour. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That would kick ass on so many levels. I think I'd already consider the upcoming season a success. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So Mrazek getting snagged and turning it around and living up to his potential elsewhere is a big risk that could cost jobs huh? I can live with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, I simply have eyes and ears and can look at the roster he's assembled that's in cap hell loaded with horrible deals for guys who can't and won't live up to them, and listen to his comments, which for the most part are vague drivel with "playoffs" sprinkled in. Even if this team did manage to squeak into the playoffs again, they'd get demolished in the first round AGAIN. His mind is stuck in the glory days, and he hasn't adapted well to the cap. Anyone can see that. Had the highest payroll in the league last season (including LTIR and buyouts), and finished 25th. Good thing he's on the final year of his contract, but odds are around 99.9% that he'll get another extension from little Illitch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Most of my post was about Blashill's use of him. I added Holland at the end, saying he COULD get him off the team. He does have that ability. He bought out Weiss, so he does have some sense of when players are injured and useless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Most surprising move in the draft. No ******* kidding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He's always had that attitude. NEVER looks rattled, even if he's getting lit up. It's a great quality I think. He does need to work a lot harder though. If he gets his game back to what it was, he'll be scary good. I hope he gets the chance to do it in Detroit. If not, hope he goes and wins a Cup elsewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not if that pesky knee flares up. Where the ointment Jeff?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where did the Mrazek comparisons to Hasek come from? Cause they're from the same country? He's about 6 vezinas and 2 Cups and a Hart away. Lol Is there really a rumour that there's a deal in place to leave Kronwall alone? HAHAHA I hope it isn't true, but it's not impossible... Petry has an NMC?? Hahahaha It's crazy the amount of players on some teams that have them. Chicago's whole protection list was almost all players with NMCs. 8 in total. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Holland doesn't say much about anything. He thinks he's smart and sneaky or something, but the whole league knows he's screwed royally. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha mannn. Get used to it. I say it a lot, but I'm far from the only Wings fan who does, and wants him gone. And it's only going to get worse the more he f***s up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

True. Just can't recall the last time I've seen a team expose its current best asset in goal to send him a message. No shortage of weird surprises with the team these days. Too bad Abby couldn't get a message too that his seven year deal was signed because of his play, and it's not cool to take it easy after that. But, only so many things you can say I guess. I'm calm. Just thinking out loud. Least there's activity on these boards now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

He MIGHT know they won't take him, but why not give some kind of explanation. He was one of the biggest surprises to not be protected on any roster. At least with Florida keeping Reimer over Luongo, it's the age factor. And Pittsburgh keeping Murray over Fleury is a combination of age, and Murray being the better goalie. Howard over Mrazek is just one huge WTF? Neither have done much the past season or two to really stake claim to the top job. Had Jimmy been healthy all season and kept those numbers up? That might be an answer. But there is no clear answer. It's like he spun a wheel with all the goalies names on it and landed on Howard. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Your right, he shouldn't play him. But Blash is a young coach who's honestly in over his head, and is rumoured to not have much control over his players. No way he sits Kronwall, a Cup champion and one of the longest serving players on the roster, plus one of the main voices in the dressing room, as long as he wants to play. Holland COULD do something, like he did with Chelios and Cleary (eventually). They're contracts were done, but he could sweep Kronwall under the rug if he wanted to. Not Kronwall's fault his knees are bad, no. And it's the classic Red Wings way to keep glory day vets around even when no longer useful, so I guess that's not his fault either. But if his game has declined so much that he's a liability, why not help out the team that gave you so much and bow out? Holland won't force him out, even though any other GM would have. Until he gets injured, or has another implosion or gets pushed out of the top job again. Jimmay was soooo great last year. 26 games played. What a rebound season! Good numbers mean s*** when your not dressed for 2/3 of the team's games. He's good when his heads on straight and healthy, but he's too much of a risk to go ahead with without a backup plan. Maybe Matej can be the next Mrazek and force him out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Kronwall will attempt to play in a wheelchair if he has to. No one is touching that contract, and that's a major reason why. Guy has no concept of when to let go, even when he's a liability on the ice most nights, and the numbers show it. He'll be peg legging around the ice once again in 2017-18 like he thinks it's 2008. It's not "mental weakness". by all reports, he still has that "confidence and swagger" about him that Khan once described. It's finding his game. Never once did I see him get angry after a bad goal or game, or after getting pulled. He just had that "it's ok, shake it off" look. Lack of confidence is different from mental weakness. Legace had mental weakness. Even though I believe he can turn it around in this last contract season, (if he stays) I'll be willing to concede that it's time for him to move on if it's the same result, but that's provided he gets a fair shot. Jimmy's game in NYR early last season got Blashills bingo wheel of doom rolling, and it never stopped. Starting Coreau while he had a 4.00 GAA at one point, while Mrazek could have benefitted from that waste of time. We shall see.
