Hahaha Just get rid of this guy already. s***ty player, s***ty coach, s***ty GM, s***ty "hockey analyst". Time to give him a choice. forced retirement package with a clause that he never again work in sports broadcasting in any capacity so he can shut up and go sit at home and rot. Or, just fire his ass. He doesn't make trades anymore. Not that Lou would take that deal anyways. Guy was good for 50-60 points this past season. 62 points. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2017 Stanley Cup Finals: Nashville Predators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
chaps80 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Obviously it was going to happen eventually. My point was it's the ******* Pens that did it. ANY team but them doing it would be easier to take. And not getting to experience the satisfaction of them getting so close and not completing it, especially had they lost to Ottawa in Game 7 2OT at home in front of their idiot fans, sucked. Is what it is though. Been a few days, whatever. Time to focus on the entry and expansion drafts, possible trades and signings. and finally, training camp and what the final roster is for '17-'18. Yep. Not the youngest rookie goalie to win a Cup though. That was Patrick Roy in '86. -

Oh, if you read the comments on the NHL's top ten greatest teams of all time, people still care about what the Isles did., the four-peat (nearly five) Islanders with their crazy playoff games won in a row streak..19 or so? Ended up 7th, while a few Oilers teams were in there, including one at 1st, and the '92 Pens 2nd. The Oilers won five Cups, and the Pens two (then), but a streak like the Isles will never be equalled. Should be at least top two Fan voting though.... -
Lundqvist's window with NYR is pretty much closed . He's done all he can to take them to that elusive Cup, and they couldn't get to that next level to give him some goals to work with. He's smashed a few sticks in frustration that's for sure. Should ask for a trade to a true contender soon.

Mrazek has all the talent to be elite. He's lost that confidence he had when he first got called up and stole the starters job, and he had when he helped take Tampa to 7 with two shutouts along the way.. If he can get his head on straight, he can be THE goalie for a long time. Blashill hasn't done him any favours either, but neither has he for himself, doing s*** like going to the showers when he was supposed to be in the backup net during practice. Time to stop being entitled and earn it.

True. Those back to back sweeps won't happen again. Plus the Wings had tougher roads on the way. Still like the scare Ottawa gave the Pens though. Pretty much as far as you can take a series. -

Anddd '97-'98 stands no more. The Pens have taken the current repeat title. Awesome. -
5 on 12. Lol Coreau will be in. It takes a Mike Babcock to switch goalies in the playoffs in order to win a championship. And...Sullivan I guess. FFS!
-
I thought him being an idiot was implied in that first post. Because I said MAYBE not Helm, I don't believe it? Huge chance he is protected, and If it's not him it'll be someone else that isn't needed. He's already forced to waste a spot on good ol Frans. Gotta love it.
-
DD is fine on the team, just not in a top role. Ouellet, and Jensen are solid. Sproul has a lot of potential, but hasn't shown much at the NHL level. Could show up still. The rest, couldn't care less. They're gone or should be gone for various reasons.
-
Oh I believe it. The guys an idiot. Maybe he doesn't protect Helm, but it's a huge possibility after he thought he was worth that contract. He overvalues vets, that's been clear for a long time. At least your confident in his abilities to not screw this team any more than he already has.
-
Maybe if he had defensemen to work with. When Danny DeKeyser is your "top" Dman and is putting pucks in his own net, hard to do much.
-
Maybe not Helm. Abby I can see being protected. He's assistant captain and does all kind of PR and is involved with all kinds of things in the community it seems. Not that Vegas would take his contract anyways, but ya.
-
5 goals on 18 shots? I read he was bad, but damn. Play taller Jared. 60 minutes.
-
Agreed. Goaltender is probably the team's strongest position right now. It was a bad season, and it affected everyone, including all three goalies in some way. Doubtful he'll even be available by the time the Wings second pick comes anyways, or that Holland would even consider a goalie. Don't really need another wasted higher pick on who could end up being another McCollum either.
-
Looks like his bro on the Hawks might be headed to LV. Hawks will make a deal to allow them to select him if they also take Kruger in a trade. Or vice versa. Too bad Kenny can't make any deals with LV to get rid of a crap contract. He'd rather leave a younger player unprotected and keep Abby and Helm.

2017 Stanley Cup Finals: Nashville Predators vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pens players and their fans really like throwing things on the ice. This Crosby thing isn't bad, but when it's supposed to result in a penalty, call it. Wonder if they still had that douchebag Cooke, and he threw it, would it be called?Game 7 against Ottawa was an embarrassment when they started tossing anything and everything on the ice after Kessel's supposed goal. And not just during a stoppage of play. DURING play. Would have been great karma if Crosby or Malkin or that loudmouth Murray caught something in their skate and twisted a knee because of what their own fans did. Sidney loves his uncle Gary. -

Well, last chance for the Preds. Is this really happening? Pens one win away from a repeat? Was bound to happen that another team would do it, had to be them. Rinne better wake the f*** up. Thought he was back to his brick wall self after games 3 and 4. Then follows it up with a 6-0 shutout loss. Clutch. -
That call-up to the big club should have helped him a lot with the holes in his game, but some are clearly still there. Can't blame him too much I guess, he did have almost a non-existent D in front of him. Only Howard played well most of the time in limited games, and Mrazek started pulling it together a bit too late, but both were a surprise. Coreau is probably a better goalie than he was before his callup though. Needs to work hard this summer. All the goalies do.
-
Exactly. Too much movement when if he just stands tall and has his angles, there wouldn't be much to shoot at. He played great last game, first star. Good job. One more win! Off topic, but I've read some things about who the Wings should try to get with their second pick, and the #1 ranked goalie in the draft (forget the name, but he plays for Boston U) has come up with the future of all the goalies kinda up in the air. Should be available if they can move up a few spots, but is it really necessary...
-
All kinds of threads turn into Holland gripe-fests around here, because he's the major issue with the franchise stuck in time. The damn Pens beat the Wings back to the Finals, and may just repeat unless Rinne wakes up again. They lost roster players all playoffs and still found ways to win with replacements. Detroit has moved past the first round twice since '09, while they still had a pretty good team until 2013 or so. Unacceptable. But yes, it's a Chelly thread. Good luck to him.
-
Good points. Sucks loosing the guys from the Cup years who have decided to stay though. Yzerman in Tampa. Shanny in Toronto with Lou and Babs building a hell of a team. Even Nill going to Dallas. Just seems like Detroit is stuck with the same management forever, despite the obvious need for a massive shakeup years ago and the team in cap hell with Holland's reckless contract extensions and signings. Illitch junior doesn't seem like he's going to be involved much either, from limited comments and basically giving Holland free reign over the team's future. Probably just following what his dad did and possibly wanted to continue though. But When is enough enough? When LCA becomes the United Centre of the mid-90's to mid-late '00's where 5000 fans show up because everyone is disgusted with the team and just can't watch anymore bleeding? The cap killed this team, slowly but surely. It's time to get a guy in the GM chair who can understand and work with it. Not just throw cash.
-
Yeah, Paterson is still there too. This coming season should be a battle though. Howard is looking forward to returning, Mrazek HAS to show more of that elite promise, Coreau will get another kick at it if one of the two is injured or moved, Matej will push him hard for the AHL starter/ first call up role. Least that's something to watch.
