I am glad the crew on the Leafs are kids we tend to win corner battles otherwise we'd be in big doo-doo. -

Got a bad feeling about this one.. This is not a game a goalie playing in his 4th NHL game should be starting.. Best of luck to us though! -

I am sure you and most in here remember how Babcock handed it to us in our last meeting. The recipe was simple, hound our defense with a relentless forecheck and sure enough our corps coughed it up and we lost. Granted it wasn't 2014, still something to have in mind, Babs know we are borderline NHL caliber back there. Expect the same today. -

How much u bet? Good luck to us, I'll take that 4-2 any day. With all pessimism going around, including myself chirping, I feel I have to give our captain the nod before puckdrop. At 36, he's a pure stud. A quick reminder about his laser pass to Tatar the last game as a showcase. -

Let's hope for some snow. Might help our chances if Matthews can't see. May the posts be with us. -
I am more and more convinced Lidström could do a back-to-back playing on our second line tomorrow. Second best defenseman of all time while our defense is horrendous.. I hope I'm not the only one dreaming.
-
Any chance we could convince Lidström to play the real NHL game against Toronto instead? I cannot see how he would not improve our defense. Someone please enlighten me.
-
Was not picturing myself watching a Columbus - Minnesota game, but I'll take a peek at it when recovering tomorrow. I tend to agree frankgrimes, some of those players are gonna break. Happy for Werenski though, kid is earning his stripes. Would give half an arm to have him wear a winged wheel jersey.

My money is on Coreau landing the gig as the starter in the outdoor game in Toronto. Lifts this goalie discussion to a threesome. Hopefully it's lighting a fire under Mrazek's behind. He doesn't just need to pick it up, he needs to lift up another level from his previous good performances if he is to be the clear starter. I do think he has the talent required, it'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.

I play "The Long Dark", it's worth checking out using a google search. It's not released yet but can be played through steam etc. And of course I play hockey in a team, and on friday nights I play pond hockey with the local folks. Today is friday and the bag is packed. I usually focus on making the teammates better, hanging out as a defender. They happy, me happy. A brewsky on top of that and friday night is golden.

A perfect example of how to use statistics the wrong way as you point out. Our first goal I highly approve of, a result of hard work and sticking like glue in their zone until they fold. More of that, please. A nice win on the road I'll take it any day. Now either win 10 in a row or start tanking, don't wanna draft 15th.
-
As your graph shows it is a statistically significant regression. Sample size is satisfactory. Thing is, why?
-
Yeah. Weird this. It sure looks like he has regressed. Alarming, considering this teams long-term plans. Late last year I was projecting him as a possible great wall reminiscent of Hasek or Price in 5 years. If anything, this seems to be the season to regress in the last 26 years. Not saying I like it of course. Hopefully he will get his act together. We need it, if not for this year certainly for the very near future.

Been watching them with an eye opened since their great record a quarter into the season. My opinion is that they are for real. They play very hard, probably because of Tortorella driving things behind. Interestingly they don't seem to drop off in 2nd or 3rd period they still fore-check as hard with the main goal of stealing the puck in the mid-zone and it is working. Looking forward to see/read someone analyzing them right about the trade deadline, if their standing still hold up by then there is no doubt they are a big time contender. On top of that they lack a clear superstar and fire a cannon when scoring. And got a blue collar feel. Works for me.

I wrote before this season that we would not make the playoffs and that it would not be close. Still, I was hoping that we could pull it off and be competitive, in the best of world facing Tampa bay in round 1 and beating them handily as revenge for the last two playoffs. I have now just past christmas come to grips with that we are done for. It is highly unlikely we'll squeeze in and most likely would fizzle out immidiately even if so. With that said, as a GM for the Wings, I would be looking to tank. That would involve moving Vanek, Smith, Howard, Green, Tatar and/or Nyquist for draft picks or young talent. I would be focusing on the young guns, keeping AA, Larkin, Mantha, Mrazek, DD as the core, backed up by Abby and Zetterberg.
-
Hope it wasn't the christmas food and that he will recover nicely. However, in all bluntness, that removes a huge weapon from their arsenal and for that I am grateful.
-
Thanks for the GDT, much appreciated, looks good. 3 games in 3 nights with a core of elder statesmen. Oh, brother.. I guess Z and Kronwall is going to sit in game 2. Do we have anyone noticeable returning? All that aside, we should get this one at home. Just bump Eichel and O'Reilly a lil, let them sweat it. It's what I'd do right from the get-go. Don't be alarmed by the forecheck, just play the d-to-d pass and then play it out nicely and all things Red will be real fine.
-
Santa came early this Christmas. Although we gonna need more than that dude to show progress. So we got the win and Coreau was a big factor due to the shootout. Most of the goals he let slip in were redirections so I'll let those slide. Does this somehow prove that Blashill is a hidden genius since he sat Mrazek? I am not convinced about that at all but I sure am confused. I could use Bill Berzeench's perspective right now. Oh and merry xmas y'all!
-
Aha! Maybe that's why Blashill put Coreau in instead of Mrazek.

May the posts and Jagr's mullet be with us.

I still watch "Lidström games". There is always more to see. The second best defenseman of all time. As to your main points, yup, I agree. Now I'll pack my bag for some pond hockey. Watching them games always get me going.
-
Just a reminder that we do have a top defenseman in our system. Top marks on most things skill based. Only problem is, he is too small. Will most likely get hurt long term in the NHL.
-
A carbon copy of Viktor Hedman or a prospect resembling him in this draft please. Meaning big, skilled, can skate like a ballet danseuse and gifted offensively. Whoever that means, if your name fits, great.
-
I wouldn't mind reading Bill Berzeench on the forums again right about now. All my opinions are doom and gloom at this moment. Perhaps good old Bill has a perspective I missed and miraculously lifts my spirits. Or do I require real spirits? Or a few more losses maybe a combination of both and some other weirdo's returning. Hope y'all are doing better than me though.
