Datsyuk's meeting with Holland should have been concluded by now today. I'll be the first to predict that he is playing in S:t Petersburg, Russia next season. Heck, I might even visit and watch him play if the cards fall right.

Overpaid, agreed. With that said, he showed glimpses late in the season that he does have another level. If he evolves to that level, with his size and hands, we got ourselves a winner. I.e. the price justifies it. Other attributes he has that I really crave to see now when he's getting paid this much is: *his Nasty shot. Probably shoots hardest on the team. *Excellent defensive capabilities. I would like him see shutdown a 2nd line center on the top teams. I am predicting Sheahan will be our second line center next season.

The best team in the finals won the Stanley cup, no doubt in my mind at least. I may not like it but that's just the way it is. I do agree that we could learn a lot by looking at the Pens, both in regards to System, something they have done very nicely since the coaching change, but also attributes within the system, most notably speed, and speed at the right place and the right time. They have managed to put the right players under the right circumstances in the finals, to me it showed almost always against them Sharks. If Blashill could pick that apart and incorporate something that works for our players I would imagine we'd look a lot nicer next season.

Their AHL team the Toronto Marlies is stacked with up and coming talent which is just getting ready, much more so than almost all affiliate teams. That's not to say that it will translate to the NHL of course but statistics say that they will have some really nice goodies coming up, and soon.

I expected a fold by the Sharks but was met with a goal-fest the first five minutes of the game, didn't expect that but glad to see that the fishes still have some fight left in them. The next one is at home in the shark-tank, hopefully that'll translate into another win. Wouldn't want Pittsburgh to get another cup.

I'm willing to bet they are about to change that stat this year, despite my disliking. They have 2 shots at home ice and one away. Annoyingly, they came to the show in the Finals. They are clicking and churning while the Sharks are not. I shall retire from this debacle and skate some, with some luck It'll ease my mind.

Here's where I actually do trust Ken Holland's veteran experience. He won't bite on this given the disparity regarding terms. Hopefully Radulov demanded so much that the RW backoffice just abort and focus their efforts on other avenues.

And Philly won't trade him for the same reason. It would transform their team for the very much worse. He's up there in Giroux status for what he brings them now. His play style would improve any team in the league, an excellent physical grinder that plays with an edge.

By the way, what u ladies up to? Can't compare 2002 to 2008. Game had changed. No more clutch & grab. And hits cleaned up, in a major way. There is a reason the game is faster now and that offensive defensemen are in such a demand. They simply could not be as fast back then. Mass and stopping power was at a premium for a defenseman. There are superior exceptions as Lidström, but they can be counted on one hand. For reference, imagine Konstantinov playing like he did now in 2016. Just y'all acknowledge both great teams from 2002 and 2008. If you ask me, if I'm allowed to "disregard" the rule interpretation changes, there is no contest - the 2002 team would stand up against Canada's national team. Maybe even offer the fantastic Soviet team from the 90's a challenge.

If Radulov signs with the Wings I'm willing to bet Datsyuk had something to do with it, as I said earlier in this thread. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds.

Short update on Nyquist: he did not make the Swedish team that will play the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto, September. All in all I agree with the decision to leave him out when looking at the roster.
