Official 2016 Detroit Red Wings Offseason Thread
Jacksoni replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
I Really do hope we give up nothing. We really shouldn't have to, but this is business and some of these cutthroat GM's are gonna bust Holland for return. I think it'll be a waiting game, chicken race if you will. We will find out soon enough. -

They'll still ask for something in return. It's dirty, but true. -
We could use his banging. Maybe he'd annoy Z, D K-wall & E to the fact that they just plain retire.

ECSF : Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Washington Capitals

5 games at the least in this one, but it sure smells like a 7 game series. It's gonna be a good one tonight in Pittsburgh. -
Pietrangelo as cerebral in period 1 of game 2 as he was in game 1. We need to extort people to get this man.

Babcock must be walking on water right now. You can count on them making a gigantic push for Stamkos. Looks like Toronto will be a future playoff team soon enough.

Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
Jacksoni replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
This question is too big for this thread and has many facets that will need exploring. Let's focus on Radulov in this one. I'm quite sure the 1C option will be discussed ad nauseum soon enough. -
Alexander Radulov: Wings on short-list of desired teams
Jacksoni replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
This thread is about Radulov but I'll make a quick go about this. Your point about a first line center is very valid, we simply lack a legitimate one for next season. Zetterberg cannot do it, while having the skill, he's outskated embarrassingly easy by top centers. Tampa for instance didn't even respect his lanes at times in the playoffs, they just shut off his passing options, caring nothing about him. They could easily step into him if he was to do something "unorthodox" as skating towards the goal, which he did once, if I remember correctly. I love me some Larkin, but he's so outmatched at number 1 center in skill, physical size/muscle mass and experience that putting him there next season would probably injure him right away and if not, he would regress backwards in development. Someone else is gonna have to step up, in my opinion. And since I don't think we are gonna make it to the playoffs, I'd say it won't be overly successful. -

You are centering a 20 year old sophomore on the first line? How about waiting 3+ more years of learning? You gonna match Larkin against Bergeron, Toews, Kopitar etc? They will Destroy him. -

They are the Devil. It's so annoying that they don't realize their size. I used to have an American Akita girl, rather big, about 110 pounds. Good upbringing and well trained. Only thing that got to her was the chihuahuas. She didn't bark or show too much emotion but I could see in her eyes that she'd chew that if I said "go". -

There has been some talk online about Datsyuk might return if Radulov joins the Wings. I don't buy that. He ain't no coming back. But Datsyuk is "honorable" and knows he messed up on his last signing. I can see him trying to redeem himself by getting Radulov signing here, in a sense "instead of him". I doubt that's what we need, but I can see that logic working in his head, especially if management asks him. It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds. -
This was a high-octane game from start to finish. One of the best games of the playoffs, worth a watch.

This thread grew me weary and I was tired from training. So I sat down, made sure I had wine close at hand, and listened to Ken Holland's hour long press conference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlkPQejiHCo He is, to my opinion, as dialed in as anyone can be in respect to the cap, the team and parity. The WIIM article is nitpicky and seeking sensationalism. And this is not to defend KH, it's simply true. Watch by yourself and decide. Some wine/beer/etc wouldn't hurt, at least it didn't hurt me yet.

Here we go again ladies, my second inline skate of the day. My meniscus surgery recovery is coming on nicely. Btw almost all my inline skating sessions are on a dried up rink, outdoors. Been thinking about more freestyle/street but this way I can play train position and transitions. And backwards skate full stride without worries of stones etc. Any freestyle inliners in here?

Didn't see Cindy biatch too much last night, seemed composed. Wonder what's wrong with him? Maybe he's on antidepressants? -

Trouba has been discussed extensively on at least two threads over this season. BrSmith, err sorry Krsmith17 and a couple others think he'd be a great fit. I still agree, as I did a few months ago. Would give up quite a bit to land him. Larkin, Mrazek and DeKeyser are untouchable. Rest of the team is fair game. -
14 pages.. Really? Let the kid play in the AHL, rest up and start playing in the big league. He will join up for sure, and you will get your stats and whatnot during the season.

Same old chumps that are cheap and measly every year. Arizona. Calgary. A couple more but those would be your surefire bets.

The Irishman could make a case to belong in the top 6 I believe. I like what I've seen from him this season and I think there's more to be had there. Wouldn't mind him on the wing on the second line. If bottom 6 I would like him centering the 3rd line. Add-on: Versatile piece to have. He has shown that he can center the 4th line quite well. He could possibly center the second line. Hopefully the coaching staff gives him a shot to move upwards and let him try to prove himself.

We could use that weasel on the Swedish mafia to make them show some effort.

ECSF : New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Jacksoni replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
A little this, a little that. No overly use of angles. Youtube the goals. The Tavares goal was a straight high slot snipe and Bishop was square. He messed up bigtime on that. Was subbed directly after it. -
Would have preferred something like "New Olympia" or "Ilitch Stadium". Well it's only a name I suppose.

Agreed. I am not for parity. Let the owners pay up if they wish to. -

NY Islanders grind lines wreaking havoc on Tampa Bay. 1-3 Islanders at the end of the 1st. Beautiful. -
Good looking goals from Mantha in the last game of round 1 in the AHL playoffs.
