Helene St.James seems to be on top of things and summarizes what has been discussed here lately. Nice to see she's fairly dialed in. http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nhl/red-wings/2016/04/22/detroit-red-wings-roster-checks/83422368/

Nonono I don't want no Lucic wearing the RW jersey. I'd abandon the team. On second thought I'd just boycott the team 1 year. -

Being as dangerous as we was (albeit slower of course) this season despite that Nasty ankle injury says more about his willpower and personality than words can say. With his skill set and mental toughness he could easily compete in the NHL for 3-4 years, if healthy. -

Blackhawks could very well win this series. Battlehardened bunch, shouldn't underestimate that. This is not over until the fat lady sings the Blues.
-
They got'em. Damn. Didn't believe they had it. Nice job by the Sharks.
-
Slick move by Benn on Dallas second goal. Worth a watch.
-
Could be his backhand or spin-o-rama move. Those two moves are top 6. Unfortunately not much else. Great shutdown player though, of course.
-
That 0-1 win was unexpected. And nice. Now get two more and you're looking good Philly.

+Zidlicky & Cole, on the top of My head.

I hope you're right. You probably are. By a smallish margin. But this McJesus kid could change things. Has most points/game of all NHL players including Ovechkin and Crosby at age 19. Set up their defense properly, give him a grinder/protector and we have the Gretzky Oilers back in a few years. Perhaps place Taylor Hall as McDavid's reciever just like Gretzky had Kurri.
-
I thought about something similar from time to time today, which is that the Edmonton Oilers will surpass us in points next season. To answer your question we'd be closer to Edmonton as the Capitals by all accounts would be above both of said teams.

I certainly agree with trading Tatar over Nyquist. And yes Nyquist is probably much preferred by other teams. I doubt Tatar is tradeable as a single piece. Maybe for a pick, say 4th-5th.

We picked 19th last draft. Svechnikov. I believe you are referring to the 2014 NHL draft, where we picked the gem Dylan Larkin (at the 15th pick) from University of Michigan who in retrospect should have gone top 5 at worst. -

*Hangs up Larkin's jersey in the cloth cabinet* The jersey needs a little rest, just as Larkin does. Hopefully they ground him from the Joe for at least a month as he needs to land mentally and rest his body. He has big shoes to fill in the future. Well we made it to 25. It's a nice round number and suits well for an accomplishment if it ends next year, which I certainly predict. I also think Pav is done. And finally I predict we get 1 nice piece for the next season but have no idea who. As for me, I'll be focusing on my game this off season as I'm returning from a meniscus surgery. Wanna move up a division or two. -
2 matchballs at home. Dallas will get it done for sure. And it gives them a buffer to let Seguin heal up properly.
-
However unlikely Chicago has the ability, unlike the Red Wings to turn 3-1 to 3-4. I wouldn't count them out until the fat lady sings.

Couldn't agree more. If this doesn't improve I'll just quit watching. I loved to go to hockey games but almost never anymore do since I think the game has gone too soft. I do make exceptions for some local teams I know that brings it on. Our lack of financial support is the only weapon we have against these changes.

*Cough* Unless you were to, say, arrange an "accident" when Z, E and Kronwall were going somewhere. Nothing life threatening, just busted kneecaps during a robbery, rendering them unable to play. The unknowing and innocent Ken Holland would thus be forced to put them on long term IR for the duration of their contracts. This is of course all hypothetical. Ken Holland would not do such a thing. Right?

Some small tidbits that struck me when Oullet played for the Wings late last season were.. -The game seemed to go to fast for him at that point. Mind you it was over a year ago. -He didn't know the Red Wings defensive system, particularly on the possession side of things. -Tended to get the puck skating backwards. Which is not all his fault (positioning and flow) but it's always less favorable than getting it on a stride forwards. He could have positioned himself better. +Good individual skills and composure, would not be rattled, be it for hit or aggressive forecheck. ++Showed hesitant but excellent tendencies of breakout skills and puck handling abilities - you could see that he has a high ceiling. I haven't followed the Griffins as much as some folks in here so I really don't know how he has progressed. If anyone that has want to voice in on this I would very much welcome it.

gdt ECQF Game 4 Post-GTD: Tampa Bay 3, at Red Wings 2
Jacksoni replied to vladdy16's topic in General
Atleast the loss lowered my blood pressure. Now I know we are going down instead of worrying about it. I believe this team needs a new energetic captain for the next season. Larkin is too young but Abdelkader fits the bill nicely. Now if we could somehow get Zetterberg, Kronwall and Ericsson to just retire, I'd be enthusiastic about this team again. -

We'll be back in the playoffs, no worries. I project in 5 years. -

This team gets to me. Warrants a double-dose.
