If Smith is a later bloomer, which I have no idea if he might be (odds say no), I'll project him becoming our best defenseman. If he's not a late bloomer, I'm guessing he will play a major part in us breaking our playoff streak.

Smith just made himself un-tradeable for Life with that move in the last seconds. We're stuck with him now, good or bad.

He got voted in, let the dude play I say. I for one will watch (some compilation of) the ASG because he plays. If possible I'll only watch the possessions he's involved in.

Overall, I like where we're at. Lot of declines visible this season, Ericsson, Kronwall, Zetterberg and even the mighty Datsyuk have slowed down and will not get back to the old days. Mrazek looking damn good though, and the addition of Green and Richards have been good, which is a nice change from Legwand and Cole who were disasters. Larkin has much to learn, but he is a star in budding. I agree with most folks about needing 1 big defensive star. I also believe we'll make the playoffs. If we do, I'll fly over from Sweden for round 1 I think.

This is a quality win. Lot of things had to come together for us to basically steal this game. Great goaltending, good forechecking and a couple of superb touchpasses in the middle zone made the difference that allowed us the 2 points. GG. Mrazek coming along nicely. How about that stick save on the puck that was already behind his body. We're getting spoiled at the moment. If he keeps it up we might actually move past the first round!

Agreed, Miller can't do much, but he sure can kill penalties. Nice to have him back.

joesuffP no skill? Yes he is a hobbit, but even the layman can see Hicketts can play. I already mentioned he has the ability to take a spot on the Wings right now, if it was down to skill. There's a reason why the team scouts decided to pick him up. Unfortunately it's not just about skill, especially if you are a defenseman. Weight and beef is used all the time in the shifts. It will be interesting to see what will happen to him.

Lose or win, something tells me Zetterberg is gonna get the team moving in the right direction. He has showed that grit in situations which makes the team pause, reflect and follow him and give the needed extra push & effort. I saw it in his one eye after the game against Winnipeg, he's gonna make sure they do it right tonight.

Canada - Sweden playing today, 12.30ET I believe. The Swedes have nothing to play for, as they have already secured the group lead going into the quarter finals. However lots of talent on the ice and should be worth a watch for the interested. And this may be a good time to take a look at nr 2 in Canada, Joe Hicketts, who is signed by the Red Wings. He is small, but he sure got game. Skillwise he'd have a spot in the Wings roster right now, in my opinion.
