He was, and probably in his mind still is a soldier hockey goaltender. Recruited into the Red Army at age 11. He probably never stopped analyzing the goalie position, I'd guess given his upbringing (brainwash) he can't. Check out some of the documentaries regarding soviet hockey. Mentored Dominic Hasek and Belfour among others. So much more to say about this man, but it's all available online for the interested. Only gripe I might have is that he didn't utilize the butterfly stance. Should still be able to raise Mrazek a level or two. Edit: here's a picture, he's the one in the middle. Mrazek on track to becoming the main goalie in the long run. This situation is almost perfect for him, alternating, reflecting, practicing. To make it perfect in my opinion, someone in management should get their butt to Moscow and have a sitdown with the best goaltender of all time and try to make him consultant to the Red Wings for 2 seasons. I think you oldtimers know who that is, V.T. are his first letters. I think Mrazek is ready for that, seems like a good next level progression to me. Playstyle fits nicely as well.

I sure as hell wouldn't trade Mrazek for Dustin. See a few pages back for some discussion regarding that potential trade perspective. An elite goalie, which I'd say he's likely to develop into when in his prime, trumps any player outside the net. Don't give a s*** who it is. You don't find them often. And when you do, you better hold on to them tigher than grandma held you on Sundays. To clarify, I can see him becoming Price, Hasek, Roy level. Yes. Defensemen take time to develop. A long time. Prime is around 30 for them. So we can't get any "D man Larkin" using the draft unless you want to wait 7 years to see if he's the real deal. So I'm all for trading for good defensive players while raising forwards in our system. Right now, big ole Dustin fits us well, he has size and grit, something this team lacks right now. He got some forward game aswell. Anyway, he's probably too expensive, but the point made about some nice D needs stands.

Genuinely thought that we would get this one once we reached the overtime since it fits our skilled players and more importantly our fast players - Larkin, Athanisiou, Helm are speedsters. -We messed up. Tomas Jurco has this amazing talent of not being visible on the ice despite being a good sized 22 year old who should be able to run to the moon and squat pyramids. I don't know why maybe he's injured maybe he's bad or maybe he's just bored. We need to get a grip on this guy. Hopefully some games in GR shows what's up with this individual.
