Signed Steve Ott signs 1 year, $800k deal with Detroit
shocky2002 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
I mean, if you love DMac, fine. At least he played in an era in which every team would regularly skate s***ty players that can only fight. At least he was probably better than most of his counterparts. But in today's damn NHL you have STEVE OTT playing on opening night? GTFOOH. -

I'm not wrong. Hits, Penalty Minutes, Fights have 0 correlation with winning. McCarty having a lucky playoff game that one time is pretty insignificant in the long run when he's a net negative for his entire career. -

A damn shame he was garbage for the other 5,754 TOI of his career -

I'm just someone who hates players that can't do anything but fight. -

The swedish mafia thing was reported by somebody else before he did. -

I won't GTFO for being right. McCarty is human trash. He f***ed some high school girls while he was married IIRC. Worthless hockey player as well, just like every other tough guy. Good read about McCarty here: http://detroitsportsrag.net/hey-darren-mccarty-keep-sergeis-name-out-of-your-filthy-mouth/#more-5642 -

Don't mention that piece of s***'s name again. -

He's gonna be so difficult to play against that the opposing team will roughly have 5 more shots per 100 when he's on the ice vs when he's off. -

Dallas Drake's 2007-08 5v5 corsi rating relative to team was -9.5. You read that right. -9.5. Gee, I wonder if the 08 Wings won because they had Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Hudler, Flips in their absolute primes or was it Dallas Drake's grit? -

Dallas Drake was complete trash. Replace him with 2013 Tomas Tatar and the Wings still win the cup. Stay overvaluing grit even though hits will never have correlation with winning pct. "20 points in 70 games. " Did you even account for his playing time, line mates, PP time and peripheral scoring chance/corsi numbers relative to the team? -

His grit means nothing, tbh. We're the only hockey franchise that can win 4 titles in a decade being last in the league in fights and PM's and still think tough guys have any place in the NHL. -

He didn't improve possession relative to team. -

Bolts will win a cup in the next 8 years. Red Wings won't under Holland. -
Signed Frans Nielson signs 6 year $5.25m AAV contract with Detroit

I believe that. You're fine with paying a 32 year old above average player 6/35? -

What is "facts"? There are no facts here. "Plays on 1st PP and PK. Good at shootouts. Draws toughest assignments" None of that means anything significant. -

f*** I hate the Hawks. Another great move. Campbell really damn good possession numbers all around despite being 36. -

Hall for Larsson - Oilers and Devils swap players

That would've been a top 10 player for an above average D-man. Equally worse of a trade. -
signed Drew Miller re-signs... 1 year deal $1.025 million
shocky2002 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Hate the Blackhawks, but when you look at how they've dealt with Shaw, Ladd, Leddy vs how Holland has dealt with Miller, Cleary, Helm you can tell why they're miles ahead of the Red Wings in roster management. They don't cling onto their homegrown talent unless they know they're worth keeping. Almost every roster decision they make is long term +EV. They look at the bigger picture. The Red Wings do not. Deals like this for Drew Miller might seem harmless for the 2017 squad, but it's a still a slightly -EV move the Hawks would never make because they will fight for every little advantage (every little scrap of cap space) they can get. If Ken Holland had drafted Andrew Shaw, he'd extend him to the Abdelkader contract. But the Hawks are smart, they know that Shaw is nothing but an average player when they look at his peripherals (Corsi, scoring chance creation, primary points relative to team). Continuity is such an overrated concept. Edit: And it's no coincidence that when Kenny chose Franzen over Hossa, the Wings and Hawks diverged in different paths. -

lmao stop dude unless he becomes a top 10 player in the entire league this is a bad deal for EDM. Hall is superior to Patrick Kane in possession and scoring chance creation. -
Other than Stamkos, which FA forward do you want?
shocky2002 replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Nothing more overrated in hockey than physicality. Hits have no correlation with winning and never will.
