I wouldn't even rank the Wings front office as <league average, tbh. There's so many idiots out there (Every canadian team, boston, philly, colorado, NYI) that make Ken Holland seem somewhat competent. The best FO's are Pittsburgh, LA, Chicago, SJ and St Louis. No other team comes close, realistically speaking. I think Chicago is losing their edge though.. they had by far the best FO after the Wings glory years ended (2009-present).. but St Louis and Pittsburgh have significantly closed the gap, and both teams are gonna be dominant for years to come.

Cam Fowler isn't even on Brendan Smith's level in terms of 5v5 numbers. Tatar for him would be the worst trade of the offseason after PK for Shea. It would be such an antiquated, Canadian-team esque move that I wouldn't doubt Holland would pull the trigger.

I wonder if the fact that he was born in Michigan had anything to do with this, hmm...
