Today is the last day of January Hype -
With the parameters involved, I think it's very slim that Mrazek gets qualified. I think Mrazek will also want to explore UFA and try to move on from this team. If UFA doesn't work out for Mrazek, I could see at that point negotiations reopening between he and Holland

But... but... but... he has the 'potential'

Chase Pearson and Patrick Holway both also having pretty decent seasons at U of Maine. Both are 20 I believe.

I'm pointing out that 2013 draft pick David Pope is top 10 (#7) in NCAA scoring this year, and also leads the league in PPGs. He's a senior on a very bad Nebraska-Omaha team where he is far and away their best player, which makes this even more impressive in my book. Also, anyone follow our 2012 pick James De Haas? Similar to Pope, had a very good season in his last year at Clarkston. Went unsigned by us. Signed with AHL's Lehigh Valley. Was putting up points there, but they sent him to the ECHL and now he's is almost a ppg there. Wonder what his issue is, the guy certainly has offensive skills.

Yes. Yes you were lol

You're still not understanding how this works... If he doesn't get qualified he becomes UFA automatically. That's it. There's no more negotiating till UFA. You have been suggesting he will be qualified at $4 mill and then voluntarily work out a lesser deal... which is why I'm asking you why in the heck would Mrazek voluntarily want to work out a less deal? It’s a very simple concept. If you can look past the fact that you want him around that is. Thank you, this is like beating your head against a wall lol
-
Are you obtuse? It's not in the specified in the CBA because it's implied. No one says wow that's a great qualifier, but I'd like to take less money. I mean you could, but you'd be working against yourself... Nope, you simply avoided the point. So less gymnastics, more high jump where the bar is the point.... Again, why on gods green earth would he negotiate downwards for less money?
-
I agree, which is why I think he might get passed on just like De Haas, but like you said I'd rather round out the roster with some of these guys than Renouf or Dominik Shine and what have you.

I've mentioned this before, but wanted to point out again... 2013 draft pick David Pope is top 10 (#7) in NCAA scoring this year, and also leads the league in PPGs. He's a senior on a very bad Nebraska-Omaha team where he is far and away their best player, which makes this even more impressive in my book. Also, anyone follow our 2012 pick James De Haas? I'm sorry your right, he's probably worth at least $1 million Koruna's to HC Vitkovice
-
Mrazek isn't worth anything This is for players seeking more than their qualifying offer lol In what world does a player turn down $4 million to take $2 million? Go ahead, I'm ready for the mental gymnastics

Yes, based on the article he certainly mulled it over and kicked a few tires as Helene so succinctly suggests. Who wouldn't? We had what at the time appeared to be a rising star that needed a contract, and a starter who was too highly paid and highly talented to be a full-time back up. A log jam. A Howard trade was being explored, not because Howard was bad, but because his replacement arrived early. Holland clearly expresses in the article that it's a difficult problem to have because Howard had given so much to the team already, is a great guy around town, and Holland himself enjoys the luxury of having two good goalies. He didn't wanna let Howard go, his hand was being forced by cap and market forces. And in the end he didn't let those forces force him to make a rash decision (thank gawd). Now with special boy Petr we have the exact opposite scenario. A young kid who plays hard ball arbitration with Holland and gets awarded a huge contract, and then proceeds to become completely useless in 90% of the games he plays for the next 2 years. He's doesn't have a long track record with the team or even in the league and he's got known attitude problems that clash with coaches and management. And he's just plain bad. No one wanted him at the expansion and the biggest offer we got before this colossally disappointing season even started was a 4th if we retained salary. It's not a log jam, it's an embarrassment to Holland as a manager that he's paid a close to useless asset well beyond what it's worth and he's stuck with him. The Howard scenario was Holland choosing between vanilla and chocolate. In the end he chose both. This Mrazek scenario is Holland choosing between vanilla and a cold dog turd in a cone. I wonder which he's gonna pick... So to get back to the point, trust me, I'm not trying to rewrite history, I simply don't see the point of your comment "Howard was gone once too" it has nothing to do with, or even relates to our situation at hand. 2 very different scenarios that happen to have the same cast of characters.
