Pros Detroit is original 6 Previous experience in Detroit as assistant GM Fans will love it (initially) Cons Abandoning the team he built in Tampa Detroit is rebuilding Tampa Bay is a cup contender He risks destroying his reputation in Detroit if he disappoints The original 6 attraction is way overblow. Winning is what matters to these GMs. Tampa Bay is in a better position for that. The biggest thing I think is risking his Detroit reputation though. If he retires as Lightning GM 10 years from now he will still go on as a Detroit legend for all time. If he comes here and the team continues to suck he will forever tarnish his legend status like Sakic has done in Colorado. That reason alone would keep me away from Detroit if I was him. I'm with Kick on this one. Feds is the exact opposite of Datsyuk. He loves the states and I believed he's expressed interest in returning full-time. He only left because the Russian powers that be wanted him to run the top Russian team.

Granted, they don't have to cross the border from Windsor to Detroit to drink @ 19 like I had to, so they have that.

But as you pointed out, the digital cords make the announcers too loud. If they made the announcers less loud, they wouldn't have to quiet the horn. Maybe if they just lengthened the cords from the announcers mic to the tv, or made the announcers sit farther away from the mic that would help.

It's because the noise waves have to travel through all those cords underneath the ground until they get to your TV. The father away you are from a horn the quieter it sounds, so this is probably what makes it sound so weak/different. Government needs to make shorter cords.

Callahan had a drinking problem in GR. Among other things, he passed out drunk in the Griffins lockerroom and also got smashed in Royal Oak the night before his first game with the Wings and the team found out. I have friends that work with and spend time outside of work with his girlfriend (she's probably an ex now)

The story I remember (from Commodore) was no one was offering him contracts and he was considering retirement. Then he got a call out of the blue from his agent/Holland that was "we want you at this price, you have an hour to decide before we move on to someone else" and he asked Holland "is it you who wants me? Or does Babs want me?" (he didn't like Babcock already from his time playing under him in Cincinnati) Holland told him the signing was at the request of Babcock. So as he tells it, he went against his gut and said f*** it maybe Babs remembers what I bring and actually needs me this time. Then Babs only played him for 17 games. So I see why he doesn't like the guy, but the amount of vitriol over a failed experiment in Detroit is way over the top on his end. Butthurt loser.
