Looking ahead at expansion draft
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
I'd actually prefer Vegas takes neither and we keep both, so I can watch Jimmy prove he is the superior netminder over Mraz and I can rub it in around here. That being said, If Mrazek gets his attitude and bad play crap together and actually turns out to be a decent young goaltender, I'll gladly eat crow cause it will be good for the Red Wings. -

I give it one more season before you all see the error of your ways and forget this Mrazek hoopla nonsense -
Not interested in forwards at all. I don't think swapping forwards will help us, unless it's a big upgrade like Duchene or more so Tavares, which I don't think we can do without selling the farm.

Griffins Calder Cup Playoffs Thread

Because you're indicating that we don't bring up AHL prospects. Which is wrong. We do. Quite a bit. Many work out. Many do not. Pittsburgh has the luxury of pairing AHL callups with Malkin and Crosby, two of the best players in the world. My guess is Rust, Sheary, etc. would look pretty forgettable next to Frans Nielsen. -
Dan Girardi signs six-year extension with New York Rangers
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
Rangers never asked him to waive it. My guess is McPhee blatantly told them he has no interest in trading for or selecting Girardi, so they bought him out so that they don't have to waste a protection on him. -
RUMORS: Lots of trade talk surrounding Derek Stepan. MTL listening to offers on Galchenyuk. Ottawa will not re-sign Chris Neil. Sort of an end to an era there for the Senators.

Dan Girardi signs six-year extension with New York Rangers
ChristopherReevesLegs replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
Just goes to show that slow moving defensive D-men are nearly extinct. And just a few years ago we were all clamoring to scoop up guys like Girardi and Macdonald. Instead we should have been getting rid of Ericsson. I'd argue that blocked shots are approaching the overrattedness of +/- at this point. -

Yeah, but his presence in the lockerroom is most likely why the Griffins won, let alone made it out of the 1st round. -

Pulks and Jurco were also lights out in the AHL and have not done diddly in the NHL with us or on other teams. If Bertuzzi plays well he'll get his time. See: Larkin, Mantha, AA, Mrazek, Jensen, Ouellet, Sheahan, Glendening, etc.

Complaining about good drafting/farm team is kind of silly. Sure on Friday nights you want a steak AND a baked potato, but when you check the freezer and find that your steaks have gone bad, you don't toss the baked potato out too. No, you eat that baked potato until you can find some more steaks at the store. Then you have steak AND potato again, and life is good. Some teams got decent steaks but no starches, and they wish they had our starches. Btw in this crappy analogy steak = elite players, and potatos = depth players/role players etc. Think I know what I'm making for dinner tonight

My bad, I think I was looking at his last season in the OHL. He was nearly a point per game 2012-2014, then the Avs dropped off and so did he. Again, I don't think we need him, or are even capable of getting him, but that dude has some of the filthiest dangles in the league. EDIT: I see Duchene as a high-end 2nd line center like Kesler. I would easily swap one of Tatar or Nyquist for a Duchene or Kesler straight up.

Looking ahead at expansion draft

Bill Daley has apparently told the GMs not to leak any trades until June 21 when their will be a big reveal. Hopefully we've already completed one or two, we shall see. -
Duchene has broken 70 pts multiple times in the past when the Avs were a much better team. I like to defer to his highlight reels, from those you can tell he's clearly much more gifted than guys like Filppula, Tatar, or Nyquist.

You haven't heard? Mrazek IS Hasek... and for some reason it needs to be brought up in this thread. -

The same D played in front of Howard and he posted a 0.927% and a 2.10 GAA Keep dreaming. Goalies comparable to Hasek: Broduer, Roy, Plante, Dryden, Sawchuck, Tretiak, etc.. There's nothing to indicate Mrazek will ever be a HOFer at this point. -

Prime Hasek from age 23 to to 29 never posted a save percentage less than 0.92% in a season, and averaged a 0.93 save percentage over that time, as well as an average GAA of 2.19. Mrazek from 23 on already has his lowest save percentage in a season at 0.901%, and has averaged 0.91% over his career, as well as an average GAA of 2.58. Compare players to Dom and you're gonna have a bad time. The man is probably the best goalie to ever play in the NHL. Mrazek is more likely the the next Howard, than the next Dom. -
Difference of opinion I guess. Always really liked Matt Duchene. I think he's a 70 pt player on a good team. If he'd be capable of that with us I don't know. I'm not too interested in forwards at the moment, but I do think he's a much better player than Nyquist or Tatar.
