I think you answered yourself. There are plenty of good players like Bishop who get moved around a lot who will want to "find a home". Bishop will likely be a cornerstone in that franchise. He will get good money and term out of them, so why chance it in FA? If they hit your number take your number.

I dont remember a single shift by him where I thought "wow this kid is gonna be something" I dont remember many terrible shifts either. On the whole the kids play was pretty blah and forgetable. He made a name for himself playing on Huberdeaus wing and with his youtube clips. Turns out he CANT do those slick moves at NHL speeds, and turns out he CANT score without a gifted centerman dragging him along. If the Hawks want to play him with Toews and Hossa cool. More power to them, and good luck to Jurco. I personally believe there was probably something going on behind the scenes, which would explain why he received 4th line grinding duties most of the time. Attitude issue, problems with coaches or teammates, laziness, alcohol or drug problem, who knows. Not everyone is a good fit on every team. Look at Vanek. Got run out of a few different cities, but been a great fit here. Who knows. Sometimes it's a crap shoot.

They have 2 starters for a run now. Probably didnt want to lean on Budaj in a playoff situation. They can also now expose Bishop at the expansion, pretty much guaranteeing the rest of the team stays in tact. Kings got Bish for a very reasonble price too.

Kings didnt have to give up too much for Bish, and now they can expose Bish at the expansion, essentially protecting the rest of the team.

Good trade. Was very excited when we drafted Jurco. Never thought we'd land him. Got even more excited when he was called up early in his career. What a disappointment.

I could see them inserting him on to the 2nd line with Toews and Hossa. I expect he'll do better with those line mates. They can also cover his butt defensively.

Prices are high this year gentleman. Besides the weak draft we picked a good year to start selling.
